*chuckle* What is it that you respect? Why say you "respect" when in the same breath you say you hate the very basis for being who they are?
Ok, well, being without belief in a god or gods is the basis, not telling people that they're stupid for believing... that IS pretty crappy. If people are telling you that, it's because they're JERKS, not atheists. Atheism in and of itself doesn't inspire cruelty.
And how do I feel when people say "God isn't real and he didn't create the earth"? I feel like I agree with them. But I don't feel like calling you a moron if you disagree.

Religious people don’t say we hope God exists, and we hope God is good, they state that God definitely does exist and then go on to provide a whole list of supporting evidence they call facts. So if science doesn’t accept religious evidence that God exists, when did you first realise God existed and what supporting evidence do you have if any?
If we assume the universe was created, then it’s reasonable to assume there was a creator. That’s as far as science has progressed today, but just look how far religion has progressed.
Religion states (fact) there was a creator called God, that God still exists, God also created places called Heaven & Hell, God wrote an instruction book called the Bible, God will banish evil people to Hell, God will send good people who follow the Bible to Heaven, that people referred to in the Bible (like Jesus) will return to Earth, and a whole raft of other statements of fact. That’s right, religious fact, not assumptions.
Now tell me truthfully, if science doesn’t even know yet whether the universe was created or not, but religious believers state: “not only was the universe created by God, here’s a whole lot more proof and facts to go with it, what do you think?
Either religious believers just have vivid imaginations or suffer from a common mental illness. I think commonsense and logic would suggest that religious believers are mentally handicapped.

Please don't feel bad because of it.
I just look at it as "watering the seed" or perhaps planting the seed. When they call Christians stupid, there is something in them that is jealous. I pity anyone that doesn't have God. The good thing is....when they finally come to know God (IF they do), their faith will be so much stronger. I know I was clueless until the Holy Spirit took over and gave me understanding.
Since I'm a scientist and they try to say that science & God are separate and they call me stupid...they usually aren't scientists because if they were....they'd realize that everything didn't just randomly happen.
Bottom line...don't feel bad, feel thankful that you know God and pray for them.

Saying "god isn't real" is not a personal attack on you, although if they say you're stupid for believing, that certainly is.
It isn't productive to take the positions of others as a personal affront (unless they are intended as such) simply because those positions are at odds with yours.
My position is that gods don't exist. But I don't feel any pain from you saying that one does, unless you start calling me a fool or a swine, or threatening me with hell or other such crap, then of course I rightfuly get annoyed by that.

So where to they think the earth came from? Even if you accept the scientific explanations (which I tend to do), what caused it all to happen in the first place? Something from nothing? I think that's pretty miraculous, don't you? I think that the existence of the universe is proof of God (or something that we might as well call God, even if it doesn't completely match our precocieved ideas or religious interpretation of the term).

First of all they should never say that you are stupid for believing in God. Each person is entitled to their own opinion and if they want to believe or not to believe it is a free country. Just pray for the non believers.

He is real and you know that He is. Hasn't He work His way in your life? Atheists close their hearts to God and to His word because they are allowing Satan to have His way. Stay strong and don't EVER fell stupid for believing in God He doesn't feel stupid for believing in you.

When a baby comes to life he will need a mother. When he grows, understands the surroundings & knows that his life is so short he will need a God. This is Human Nature.

They have the right to their beliefs. They'll have to account for them too one of these days.
In the mean time, we as loving christians have to try to 'pull them from the fire'
Jud 1:22 Show mercy to those who have doubts.
Jud 1:23 Save others by snatching them from the fire. To others, show mercy, but with fear, hating even the clothes stained by their sinful lives.

I'm agnostic, it makes me sad when people say there is no god, while no one has a very good understanding of what god is there is something and it's my quest to discover what that something is that makes my life worth living.
