I`m not sure but I think around 50. Nowadays you can recover your good near vision through an operation where they replace our natural "crystalline lens" (biconvex structure serving to focus light on the retina) by an artificial one. My ophthalmologist suggested to me this operation not long ago.

about 40, then the near vision starts to go and you end up with bifocals
