Bad breath is not usually caused by your mouth per se. Chronic bad breath is the result of any number of things from tooth decay or gum disease to gastro-intestinal difficulties. Should one of thoswe things be the origin, I suspect leaving your mouth closed would likely make matters worse.Obviosuly, brushing (don't forget the tongue!) and flossing help immensely, as does putting about a tablespoon of peroxide in your mouthwash bottle.

No...not necessarily.
Most of the time it is what's being digested. That bad smell is the leftovers of what is left in your stomach after you eat...so sometimes even brushing after you eat doesn't help enough.
My dentist suggested eating parsley after meals. It's natural and the taste isn't too bad. Also, drinking water with lemon helps your body break the food down also.
If your breath is that bad, you should talk to your dentist becuase it could be a sign of gum disease (like halitosis.)

Your breath might smell a tad better if U keep your mouth closed, and exhale thru your nose, but not much!

I think it makes it worse...just like "morning breath". What causes morning breath is micro-biotic poop...yes that's what I said, POOP. Little invisible creatures pooping in your mouth. I would imagine that keeping your mouth closed would make it worse. But if you have really bad breath, keep your mouth closed for the rest of us.

Bad breath is sign of
1. poor dental hygiene
2. oral disease - tooth decay or gum infection
Clean your teeth. Go to the dentist; get a check up.
Take care.

Well, if your mouth is closed all the time, and there is no flow of saliva, I would think it would smell pretty bad.

Not really. Use a good mouth wash or swish hot salt water around in your mouth and spit it out. If the odor continues, see a dentist or have your sinuses checked.
