As far as I know, dress codes ARE implemented in most work places and schools. For example, no belly shirts, no miniskirts, no underwear showing, etc.

I think it's a good idea.

Schools and workplaces are places where all sorts of people get together, and you need something to even things out a little.

There already is one where I work. I personally don't agree with it as I work with computers all day and on the occassions when I have to get into a case the tie is a pain in the butt.

Dress codes should take into consideration the type of job the person does, not just some status associated with what they wear. Clean and non-offensive should do. For network admins, a polo shirt and khaki's should suffice!

Most companies have a dress code spelled out in their employee handbooks but I think uniforms are great idea.

Other benifits of having a uniform for work is that the purchase and cleaning of uniforms is or was tax deductable.

At least people would not have to worry about trying to look sexy or in fashion.

As a teacher of eight years, I can tell you that many school districts have dress codes for faculty and staff. Typically, teachers are expected to conform to the same dress code policies set for students; yet, we all know this doesn't always happen.

Just as with any rule, regulation, or guideline, it is only as effective as it is enforced.

I think in some work places it should be, such as the schools, if students have to wear uniforms why shouldnt the teachers... (setting an example is a good way for them to learn) ... but in most places it should be up to the employer

yes. many people don't know how to dress appropriately. (ie thongs showing, navel bareing, see thru items...) I guess girls are the main problem trying to dress provactive to get attention or get ahead by distracting the boss.
