What kind of dog you get depends a lot on where you live. If you are in a house, you can get what you want, if you have the yard to support a dog or two or three---or 7 like my next-door neighbor. But if you live in a condo or an apartment, a small dog is best. I'd recommend a Basenji--they are relatively small, but not a toy, barkless, and they don't shed. They have a tail that curls up over their backs, and while they aren't really "pretty" dogs, like lhasas or cockers, they are obedient, faithful, loving, and they are usually crate-trained so when you leave, you can crate them and they won't mess in the house or chew up your shoes.

If you want a pure bread look at the diferent ones then find a rescue that you can get all the info on the breed and find out if you are sutible to have him/her if you dont mind what type then go down to you local rescue and look and ask questions there .
rescue dogs arnt all hard work and they reward you for the love they get you must think about ur circumstances and what you can offer and want in return
hope you find your new friend

Depends how often you can walk it, if you ahve kids or not, what kind of person you are, and how much space you have in your house

I have a Golden Retriever

Also if you dont have the patience or time to train him/ her, or if you just would like to adopt an old dog, there are great places where you can adopt abandoned or retired rescue dogs

depends on where you live, how much room it has to run, and how much time you have to spend with it. I am partial to loveable pits. you can get big ones and small ones. they have short hair, and don't run around too much. plus it is fun to pick them up with a rope and twist them around. They are really stubborn and hard headed which make training long and almost pointless. Labs are great as well. I'll probably get a cockerspaniel though. they pretty small, since i live in an apartment complex. you should check out your local animal shelter though. good luck with the pup.
