Tetracycline is used to treat a wide variety of infections, including acne. It is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic produced by the streptomyces bacterium, indicated for use against many bacterial infections. It is commonly used to treat acne. And let me tell you ... it works! I had pretty bad cystic acne and had tried pretty much everything. My dermatologist gave me a prescription for tetracycline and it was like a miracle drug. My acne cleared up almost entirely. I saw results after only 1 month of using tetracycline 2x per day.

WOW! I didn't know that was even being used anymore. I was given that drug when I had measles, as a child. My teeth were still in the "formative" stages and they came in with odd spots and a brownish color, because of the tetracycline. I was told, it wasn't in use anymore...
