Dogs are natural hunters. In other words, no matter how well you think they may get along, there's always the chance that your poodle's natural instinct will kick in and he'll kill the mouse. In all honestly when you say that your dog licked the mouse and like to play with him, he's probably just figuring out how he can, well......eat him.

Well i have a dog myself. She is a female rottie and she likes to fight mice. I would suggest that you not let the dog play with the mouse because even though my dog won't always kill a mouse she will harm it just trying to play with it. dont get me wrong rotties are very mild mannered but if you want the dog and mouse to coexist together try to slowly get them used to being around one another without the dog biting or harming the mouse.

I wouldn't let them out together. As you said, your puppy wants to play with your mouse (probably thinks it's a neat wind-up toy), but he could easily kill or maim it simply by putting his paw on the little one's back.
My 11-month-old cocker loves nothing better than to wrap his paw around my cat's neck (the cat's his best buddy). Thank heaven's the cat's limber enough that he doesn't get hurt...but a mouse might be a different story. I wouldn't take the chance.

keep them separate its a dogs natural instincts that will tell him to get the mouse. even if hes not trying to hurt it hey may anyway on accident.if you really want to see anyway at least put the mouse in one of those balls they make for hamsters. you can get them at any pet shop and this will prevent injury to your mouse and also keep him from getting lost.

Just watch carefully. And only in small doses at first, then longer gradually leaving them alone, only if they have been doing good together.
I have a large and small dog. The large dog loves my rat, but the small one has never come around.
Good luck!!

use the glue boards somewhat of traps. that way, if the dogs gets into it, all you're able to do is pour vegetable oil on the paw it incredibly is caught and it will slide precise off. (i had a cousin that this occurred to as quickly as.)
