they just don't seem to get it really and attitudes seem almost pagan, as though people need to barter with God. of course i am generalising so obviously is doesn't apply to all

Same product, new gimmick. Marketing 101.

"The Vineyard" church (which has many chapters) has demon exorcsims, complete with vomitting in buckets! They also have dancing ladies in white gowns waving white flags, and "laughing in the Spirit (belly laughing in the middle of sermons)." The one I can personally attest to this happening in was Vancouver, WA. They recruited from jails and kept adding new rituals, practically every week. I wonder if they background-checked those jailbirds they were bringing in. Hmmm.

My information is that the Pentecostal Denomination was started around the year 1900. There are many newer types of Christian Churches and Denominations Many are a little too Independent or young in leadership to really have a mature insight into the Heart of the Gospel. But many are very cool and loving and have Very Heartfelt, Spirit-lead Faith.

There is a lot of bias against Pentecostal churches based on a lack of knowledge. There are a lot of churches that I have visited over the years, some were pentecostal, some were baptist, and some were indi's. All of them were unique, and seemed strange the first time I walked in a worship service with them, but the more I learned from them and about them, the more I saw that they were just human beings like me who simply desired to worship God. From my experience I cannot say that the pentecostals are anymore weird than the standard Catholic Mass to one who has no real idea about the subject.

in the uk the pentecostal church is a bit stange but I trust that the Holy Spirit is at work there as much as anywhere else. I'm in a new frontiers church, we follow the Spirit, and teach the bible as truth, it's a warm place to be.

These days they're used as a method of getting the intellectually stunted into a church. You don't need to understand anything, just make a hideous cacophony and up you'll go.
I suspect that many of the so-called preachers have little real understanding of what they're trying to teach either. They're just loud-mouthed money grabbers (didn't somebody have ideas about that - and in a church too!).
As for pagain ideas - more like just "thick"

Yeah but no weirder than allot of weird things people do. Just live and let live. The Pentecostal church is definitely not for me. My boyfriend is into it. That's what he was raised as. It's not my thing but I will attend sometimes with him. I took him to my ( a more traditional Protestant one) church and he thought that we are weird. So it all depends on your perspective I guess.

BTW thanks for not generalizing a whole "group" of people

Me pentacostal -

our denomenation is just over 100 years - not quite new anymore.

3 simple thoughts on what we believe.
1) Worship God with whole heart, mind, and soul - (Lots of loud signing)

2) teach the whole bible

3) Jesus said we will do greater things than he, if we ask. - So we expect to heal the sick, and make the blind see.

If you think that is weird, so be it, aas long as you worship the same God, keep up the good work

Actually yes. Without trust in the Teaching Authority of the Church, I can see no reason even to believe the Bible is the Word of God.

What Evangelical and Pentacostal churches have you been to?!!!!

They're just worshipping, praising and praying to the LORD the way the SPIRIT moves them.

And it's soooooooooooo much more fun and interesting than traditional stand up here, sit down here and recite in a monotonous voice here Anglican!!!!

1st John 4:1 sums it up pretty good. "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

A lot of these churches are NOT of God. But we have to test according to the word of God (The Bible)
