Insurance companies charge you for 3 years for Minor Accidents and Violations and 5 years for Major.
With a DUI, if you are required to carry SR-22 insurance, you will most likely have to carry it for 3 years. Afterwards, your insurance company will keep you in the same rate braket for two more years, until five years have passed after the date of the DUI.

It depends what state you are in. In CA, If you got your DUI after 01/01/1999, it will be on your driving record for 10 years. If you got it before this date, 7 years. All other states =7years. The insurance company will see it the entire time.

In North Carolina it is called DWI ( driving while impared ) a friend of mine said that his conviction stated on his record for 12 years, (first offense) North Carolina has the toughest DWI law in the nation.
