The benefit is that it shows you the Way to alleviate all suffering, and gives you the motivation and encouragement to walk that way, through the example of the Buddhas, the teachings of the Dharma and the mutual support of the Sangha (the fellow-wanderers of the way).

When we reach Nirvana we destroy the source of our worldly desires and thus end our suffering. As this also anchors us in the Samsara, when we die we will not be reborn and simply cease to exist. As you can see, Buddhism is not a sugar-coated religion.
Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Judges 10:13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
Buddhism worships no god, it is a path of the self. None of these phrases apply. Buddha was a wise man, he was not divine.

The main concept of Buddhism is to alleviate suffering. You can alleviate personal suffering by letting go of desire. Because it is true that desire does create suffering. Also, you can alleviate someone else's suffering by actively helping them with their problems, whether mental or physical. Furthermore, letting go of everyday labels and concepts (like I am driving to work, I am sitting in a chair, I am taking a shower) will free you from the constraits of this world, and who doesn't like to be free? Add to that, we should all be compassionate to one another and see our enemies as a gift because they teach us patience. There's a lot more to it. Most books by The Dalai Lama will touch on these points and others.

Practicing Buddhist meditation will free your mind of delusion, hatred and greed.
That's it what the world needs nowadays. And, from my opinion, these are the crucial pre-requisites for the survival of mankind.

I gained nothing at all from Supreme Enlightenment, and for that very reason it is called Supreme Enlightenment.
-Buddha.
You "get" nothing but you learn to live your life in reality unfiltered by illusions of self and the selfishness and misery that accompanies those illusions.

The person said "BENEFITS", Christians, not "please try to convert me and tell me I'm going to hell."
I think a Buddhist would tell you the benefits are truth, peace, wisdom, etc.
