There is almost nothing factual available about Mary Magdalene or about Jesus, for that matter. There are collections of stories, some of which were rejected by the early church and some of which were incorporated into Paul's new religion, Christianity, along with a load of fantasy.
What is probable and logical, based on the times in which he lived, is that Jesus was a rabbi, was married, and that the Mary mentioned in the bible (who was at the tomb with his mother) was Jesus's wife. There is no evidence in the bible that this person was Mary Magdalene; that's an assumption.

The Da Vinci Code is merely a story and never claimed to be other than that. However, much of the line of thought is based on the book"Bloodline of the Holy Grail-The Hidden Lineage of Jesus Revealed" by Laurence Gardner. This is the most famous book in this vein, although there are others which have suggested this concept. This provides a school of thought and many theologians have not dismissed it out of hand. I don't think we should always believe everything we read and that includes historical accounts which may have been distorted in the time of the early Christian Church to benefit Rome.

Yes - I agree with you. There is no evidence to substantiate the claim made in the book, "The Da Vinci Code" (by Dan Whatever his name is - I will look it up and check). The claim that Jesus married Mary Magdalene is ridiculous. Anyway, I believe that this book was not meant to be factual, but fictional, so why are people taking it so seriously - more seriously, than the Bible, in some cases?
Mary Magdalene was a significant female figure in the Bible. She was the first person that the risen Jesus appeared to, and he commanded her to go and tell the others that she had seen him. I think that this means that she could be called an apostle of Jesus, depending on your definition of, apostle.
I hope this helps and God Bless:>)

Hey she was the main woman in his life, apart from his mother. And presumably he was a good Jewish man and would have wanted to do his duty to God and reproduce.
So lets face it she is the best candidate for a wife.
As for the plagiarised book - that's, well not too good.
Incidentally the intellectual forerunner of The Da Vinci Code was The Holy Blood the Holy Grail by by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln. It was the first in a long list of alternative biblical/Messianic histories.

OK so the book's a load of plagiarised rubbish. It's unlikely to have turned anyone away from religion. Since the book was published, the number of hits on the Catholic Enquiry Centre website has trebled.

i thought that woz a very thought provoking book, i couldn't put it down.
i also believe it's plausible that jesus had a wife and child although i dont believe he had all those magical powers, walkin on water etc. i think he woz probably a type of magician, doing illusions that ppl of the time did not understand. if this woz the case then he woz a normal man with normal feelings and if he had so much love 2 give then y not give it 2 his child and it's mother?
after all, christians believe in marriage, y wud they if no1 set an example 4 marriage?

the Divinci code through a work of fiction took much of the ideas presented in factual books such as 'holy blood, holy grail'. These writings are accepted as a plausible theory about the life of Jesus and what happened after his death. Unfortunately due to the Divinci code less and less people are looking for these factual works as what they are due to a fictional book

Obviously referring to the da vinci code. Yes it is fiction, unfortunately many people cannot differenciate between fiction and reality. Kind of scary.
However, southern france has a long history of worshiping Mary Magdalene and have several traditions regarding her divinity. Of course it is likely simply transference from pre christian goddess worship.

There are many historical accounts that say Mary Magdalene and Jesus were married. This has been a point taken by many for years.
Then, I am not christian, so it really does nt matter to me.

The only thing we really know about Mary Magdalene is what is told in scripture. Anything else is mere speculation.
