As long as I can answer within the framework of this fantasy bubble, then yeah, sounds right.

I'm right there on the "Charmed is only a tv show" bandwagon. But in regards to money/luck/anything good type of spells you have to be very careful, and very specific. For example, if you work a spell just plain out asking for money, you just may get it in a way you didn't want - like from a Will payout.

Karma is always in play.

Charmed only takes a few hints from Paganism and then makes up the rest. There's nothing wrong with a good luck spell provided you do it with conviction and ensure that you wish no harm to anyone else in order to give/get the good fortune.

In reality, spells aren't for making things suddenly happen (like they do in Charmed). They are meant to simply hurry things along. You still have to do some of the work yourself. e.g. cast a spell to get a new car and it won't just fall out of the sky. It will simply call out to you when you look for it in the classifieds.

"Charmed" is fiction and should be treated as such. I have never seen a reason to cast a general "good luck" spell. If I want prosperity, I cast a spell for prosperity. If I need a better job, I cast a spell for a better job. I try to be as specific as possible in my spells while still leaving room for various solutions. I am not even sure that I believe in "luck". I think that everything happens for a reason.

Charmed is, unfortunately, chock full of magickal inaccuracies.

Good luck spells are only dangerous if cast when you don't know what you are doing. If it's truly a good luck spell, it can't really just become a bad luck spell--you're the one who empowered the spell in the first place.

Well, there's no point in doing magick, in my opinion, if you're not going to do it to improve your life. I cast for myself all the time. If you can't handle your own business, why think you've got any business messing in others??

But it's true that if you're not very careful and clear in your intention you can have negative consequences. Every action has dozens of hidden reactions, magical and otherwise. You have to look at all your options and go for the one that will have the least unintentional impact- not only in magical work, but in every aspect of your life.

If our government leaders understood that, life would be nicer.

As a rule though, people shouldn't get their info about Pagan religions and witchcraft off TV shows.

1, I freakign Hate Charmed. it misrepresents our beliefs and practices so much that it is not funny.,,,however it is good TV i guess and they have the right to make it.....

anyhoo,

luck spells are a bit tricky, kind of like prosperity spells, first off the show was right they should never be cast for personnel gain,

all magick and spell writeing should be done with extreme care.
and worded to make your intent very clear.

there are really too many rules and such about magick to really get into here, basically the show was right THIS TIME. please do not fall into "Hollywood Wicca" or "Hollywood Paganism"

if you want to learn there are numerous websites and yahoo groups that can teach you about it without landing you in a load of S**T.

feel free to look at my 360 page and join any of the pagan groups that i am in...the only one that you would not have access to is the order of the sacred oak, which is a private group for my coven

It depends, spells only work for those that truly believe, I used to do that stuff, but not any more, why? because I was losing my psychic ability, so I figured I couldn't be both, lately I've been having my psychic dreams again and I'm better with them than without em!

like many already said charmed is not really a "class on paganism". It only has some parts of it, not the whole idea or belif system. to truly find what it it, do lots of research

Well, Charmed is not real but it does have some very vague references to real witchcraft..... but not many. Personal gain "spellwork", whether it's for love, money, luck or whatever never turns out the way you plan simply because your intentions are selfish in nature. Stick to helping others and good things will come back to you....

Wouldn't that be a bit like saying that you're casting a spell that will make a flipped coin land on either heads or tails? That's not magic. If it is, then I'm going to cast a spell tonight that will make the sun rise tomorrow. I expect great thanks for it, too.
