Hey wise,

You might benefit from learning about DNA and the genes. I am not positive, but I think many of the characteristics that differenciate the variety of humans are known by specific genes. This is really a complicated question. Here are some DNA study sites that should have answers.

Check the last web site first.

Race is a society-based characteristic. This means that the society chooses what to call you. My roommate, for example, is Panamanian, but because he lives in the US, is darker complected (looks black)...he is almost, always referred to as being a 'black guy.' In addition, race becomes a self proclaimed title as well. You may have different ethnicities (such as myself with Native American, Irish, and English but i call myself white), which determine how you look and how you tend to proclaim yourself.

A lot of people tend to mix up ethnicities and heritage with race. They are three different concepts, with race being the only choice.

And by the way, yellow is not a race.

Skin colour, eye colour, hair colour and texture, facial features...things determined by our genes. There is really no such thing as "races". We are all one race-human.
