When Satan was an innocent angel in Heaven, evil did not exist. But then how could good have existed without evil? Both concepts define each other exclusively. Maybe some intelligent Christians can enlighten us all.

Satan is an angel of "God" who does the work assigned to 'him' by "God", according to Judaism. There is no such thing as evil in this sense of the word. Any wrongdoing is a result of a lack of understanding and knowledge that the so-called "sin" is wrong. The only thing that resolves "sin" is gaining the wisdom to know why a particular thing is wrong. There is no evil for evil's sake.

What if neither good nor evil exist, but only that which is useful and that which is not useful in a particular time, place, and cirumstance? What if what we perceive as good and evil are only projections from our own selves?

Water can quench thirst or inundate with a tsunami. Food can nourish or lead to obesity. Air fills our lungs with life, but also becomes the wind that destroys homes and businesses in a hurricane. To al Qaeda, the US is evil. To GW Bush, al Qaeda is evil.

Maybe your question presumes things that are no longer helpful in understanding our world.

(no longer non secular) For the prompt ignore God and devil, the international merely is. For the cosmic stability to paintings, strong ought to exist as evil does, they both opt to exist both or the steadiness is thrown off. imagine of life with in worry-free words evil (murders, robberies etc.) the international would bring about anarchy, greed and hatred. and then imagine of too a lot strong (politeness, tolerance etc) any undesirable you do even if if its very Small (burp without pardoning your self), you'll nicely be punished for. the international would bring about a consistent conflict to be desirable. i do not understand if i'm explaining this the right way or maybe if if its making sense yet it really is merely how I have come to appreciate your proper question.

This is why I do not believe in Satan. I believe everything comes from god and, maybe just to keep from going insane, I have to believe that there is a greater plan at work here. Maybe we are all a part of God and as we evolve, so dose God.

Intelligent, yes.
Christian, no.

very old question...look up the word "theodicy" for a start
this [seeming] contradiction was a problem for all religions...
redefine "good" and "evil" as "beneficial" and "detrimental"
and you could also include some eastern/Asian belief systems

Most religions had to posit a "loop hole" around the issue
some way or another, they had to account for evil/misfortune/war/death/destruction in the world..
Some explanations are just as convoluted as to the origin of "evil" as they are explaining another basic contradiction in belief systems...how does an ineffable/unknowable/infinite godhead become knowable/understandable/attainable??
a real nasty question for believers....

Would we yearn for the days of Clinton and Lewinsky if there had been no Bush?
But seriously, that is why He allowed it. He could and can make Satan simply cease to exist, cease to have ever been. But He won't. So... He wants us to choose.

For something to be perceived as 'good' we must have a perception of 'evil' . I am not a christian however so I cannot explain it to you the way you want.
