1 word for THAT skank: TACKY!
Is she there all the time? I'd make a point of either NOT having her wait on you "gosh, can so and so wait on me instead, I didnt cash in my pension tonight--I cant afford your usual tip" Or basically just stop going there, tell everyone you know about the bar, including the name of it, the town and what the bartender's name is.
And you might want to mention it to the owner--if she's that bold and brazen, is she lifting cash from the till, too? HMMMM????

I think 20% is perfect. That's what I usually tip, unless the service is substandard. 15% is standard. Unfortunately, I believe most people have no idea how to tip properly. When I bartended (this was a dive wingery place) NOBODY knew how to tip decently. If I got 20% that was REALLY rare.
That was extremely rude of her to do. I would be sure to say somthing to her about it....and if the behavior doesn't stop, don't tip her at all! It is optional...

I would let management know what happened. Insulting a customer is one of the most disastrous things you can do in any business.Management should apologize reprimand the sever and bartender if not terminate them depending on if anything like this has ever happened before and offer you a free meal. Remember this! most people do not tip 20% so you are very generous and believe it you are greatly appreciated. I should know I've been in restaurant management for many years. so you are NOT the one to feel bad.

CALL THE MGR. I was a bartender and was thankful for any tip. 20% is the standard (I travel two weeks out of the month). If she is making those comments she needs to be carrying a big grey tub hauling out scraps. If she persists, get her name, find out who owns the bar and write them a letter identifying her by name. Cite that the bar is a great place but she is making it suck rocks dry mouth. She will be on food stamps faster than you can say snotty b*****

I would ignore it - this time. If you visit that bar again, and tip your normal 20% (based on her level of service to you at that time), and again receive a comment, I would go directly to the manager of the bar. I sincerely doubt anyone would want to keep someone on staff who made it a point to degrade a customer in any way. You could always go to another bar - there's practically one on every corner.

Yes she was out of place. If she did that to me, I wouldn´t leave her a tip at all the next time and if she asked why, I would say because you embarrassed and shamed me in front of the other customers and that is an unethical business practice! If this continues you should bring it up with her supervisor.

Uh, and you intend to ever tip her again? Let alone patronizer her bar?
Tip her a fat zero next time and every time until she gets the point that making fun of customers isn't the way to earn tips.

I think that is really rude. She is lucky to have a tip at all. If you get the same bar tender, pay her less next time and threaten to never come back to that bar if she continues to make those snide comments.

I would reward her rude behavior by letting the manager/owner know about it. Further, I would take my business elsewhere as, unfortunately, you can probably never expect to get decent service at that bar again unless you succumb to her blackmail and start tipping both her and her successors an outrageous amount.

I have never heard of anyone doing that, ever. She sounds like a real idiot. I am not one to complain allot, but if I were you I would say something to her or her boss, especially if you frequent the bar often. It was in very poor taste for her to do that.
