Many people see Red Bull as the ideal energy booster or something to get you going after a night out on the booze. I really can't understand how some people almost become attatched to the stuff. They seem to live and die by it, swearing that it has some magical, mysterious powers. Quite frankly, those sort of people are absolutely barmy and I think they have a lot to learn. As you have probably gathered by now, I am really not a fan of this stuff.

I am a keen swimmer, so I like to think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to energy and sports drinks. I find that a 500ml bottle of 'still' Lucozade or a bottle of Blue Powerade will give you a whole lot more of an energy boost. Red Bull has just become a cool drink that younger people feel the need to be associated with for some reason. It is now more of a brand that a drink to supply with that bit of an energy high that you may need.

The taste of Red Bull, is quite frankly atrocious. It must be the most awful tasting drink going, apart from Ginger Beer and White Lightening cider. It tastes like the something that the doctor or pharmacist would subscribe if you have a servere fever. It almost makes me feel sick when I drink and sometimes just the smell of the stuff can be bad enough. There is no flavour to Red Bull, whereas most other 'energy' drinks are orange or lemon.

It seems that wherever you look, you cannot escape the Red Bull logo, or something associated with it. In my area I often see Mini Coopers and those ugly Volkswagen Beatles driving around. They are dressed in the Red Bull logo and often have a large model of the Red Bull can perched on the rear end. They sponsor their own events, the Red Bull Soap Box and Flug Tag Races, which are just crazy events. They also sponsor numerous sporting events around the country and internationally.

I once heard that the name Red Bull, was originally taken from the main ingredient of the drink. It is alleged that the testicles of the red bull were used in the making of the very first drink. I'm not sure if that is still the case, or ever was, so if anybody knows anything about that I would be very interested to hear more. It's probably just somebody trying to show how gullable I really am!

The product itself, comes in a blue and grey coloured can. It then has the logo, rather predictibly in red, of two bulls facing away from eachother. The text is in a red font and 'Red Bull' appears in a large bold font. Below the logo, is 'ENERGY DRINK', in smaller block capitals. Each individual can contains 250ml (8.3 fluid ounces) of the drink. The nutrition information is listed below. It is very difficult to put a price on a single can of Red Bull, because the price can vary hugely from shop to shop. I have spotted it for just under £1 in a newsagent and for as much as £1.80 in a motorway service station.

100ml of Red Bull contains:

192kJ of energy (45kcal)
11.3g Carbohydrates
No Fat (whoopee!)
8mg Niacin
2mg Pantothenic Acid
2mg Vitamin B6
2 micrograms Vitamin B12

This has got to be the worst drink that you can pull out of a cool cabinet in a shop or at home, or be served in a pub of bar. I do not know why anybody in their right mind would want to drink this stuff. For starters. it's a rip off. You have to pay about £1 for 250ml of liquid! Another thing is the taste. It is very nasty and leaves your mouth in a right state. Finally, it probably does your body more harm than good in the long run, with all of the contents. I would reccomend buying a Lucozade if you need an energy boost in the form of liquid substance, or if you want to eat have a good old banana.

If you feel the need to contact the makers of this horrific, drink then you can do so at:

Red Bull Co. Ltd
14 Soho Sqaure
London W1V 5FB

Tel : 020 74340100

Its even worse if you are under 18

Yes. This drink should only be used by people that need that extra boost to help them get through some type of important activity. Long drive, late night work project, etc. The drink serves a purpose and should only be used as such. Kids under 18 should be full of energy. If not there could be other things going on with these kids.

One red bull a day is no worse than if you drunk only soda all day.

Drink water it is healthier and fixes your thirst better than products that contain sugar

No, it's not really bad for you...it just has a lot of sugar/carbs in it. There are upsides to energy drinks though...they have a lot of vitamins and give you a boost of energy.

very bad. basically it's a very large concetration of caffeine. and for someone whose body is still developing. the kind of dosage could result in serious damage over time. Or even sudden death.
