you should probably not ask her out - it is sexual harassment - HOWEVER, I have had an affair with a superior at work and it is wonderful! If you think she would like you, go for it. Alcohol always helps!

Skip the lawsuit.
Quit looking to replace your current secretary with a hottie, and find one that will do most of your work for you, so that you can go out and find a hottie who doesn't work for you.
I had a boss that screened potential new hires in this manner.
Everyone thought he was a freaking pig. Trust me that's worse than a little embarrassment. He's nobody's boss now. People tend not to like working for guys that will screw your life into an unworkable shamble in favor of a bad employee who looks good!

As an employer - you just DONT!
There will be work related social events, end of year parties, business lunches, etc. that you can get to know your staff/employees better, but don't even think about asking anyone out on a personal date unless you are prepared to handle a "sexual harrassment" workplace insurance claim.

Horrible idea. Your leaving yourself wide open to sexual harrasement, favoritism, and a LOT of other problems beside. It could cost you your job. If your the owner of the company, you could be faced with a lawsuit. Is a possible relationship worth all that?

Never ask an employee out & never go out with an employee if asked. It will only lead to trouble.
Best to keep work and social life seperate.

You are not just asking for trouble, you are STANDING ON A CHAIR AND BEGGING FOR TROUBLE. Hire secretarys for their skills and not for their sex appeal. They are working for you and deserve to be respected for that. If you want to go out, find your dates elsewhere. It is not fair to the employee to be put in an uncomfortable position and you are inviting trouble that you don't want.

YOU DONT unless you want to be sued severely... Ya know there are a handful of MILLIONAIRES out there who got their bucks solely by feeding off of the employee/employer relationship. Its called sexual harrassment... I wouldnt do it unless you want to lose your job/jhouse/car/life/all your money... and anything that has any value.
