I live in the USA and I speak English. I don't want to learn another language because I have no need to. I don't plan on visiting any other countries where English is not spoken by the majority. Call me ignorant, stubborn, narrow-minded or whatever you want because I don't care. This is MY choice!

I speak of course english, I speak sicilian because i was raised up in an italian family and my grandparents didnt have much for education during those times, I speak Italian and spanish because I learned it in HS and college to become an interpreter. I know some french from HS but since I had no one to practice with I never got to master it. So I can read it now better than i can undrestand when spoken. There were times in the 90's where i was able to speak and write it fluently however my aunt who was from Paris passed away from a brain tumor and didnt have anyone to practic with. Sad. I do remember some Latin though.
I know a few phrases in german, cantonese, and mandarin but never really learned those lingos.
I never did become an interpreter..mainly because i did 4 years of college in the above languages, the curriculum changed and they told me i can only become a teacher in those languages..i got pissed and decide to go into computers which is where i am now. I know the old basic, extended basic, the old 85 cobol but thats just about it..theyre really worthless now.

I speak French, and it's Creole dialect, Spanish, Italian, German, some Korean, Thai, and I am learning Arabic. I understand Swedish, Dutch, Portuguese, and some Swahili. I am from a military household in Louisiana, of Creole desent, where my father introduced me to the wonderful world of language. English, Spanish, Korean, Russian,French 3 or 4 words in the last
2 languages.
Sign language is considered visual, but there are books you can read and learn from. Strangely ironic.
