I've measured myself in the morning after getting out of bed and I'm about 3/4 inch taller than I am at night time.

I've done this on a number of occasions throughout the years, so I know this to be true. Is it because my spine and posture is more straight in the morning?

Yes , It is actually True !!

Your spine compresses the Disks between your Vertabrae during the day .

When you are lying in bed asleep , The Disks re-hydrate and expand back to the correct size

Because gravity works! Your spine compresses as the day goes on because you are not lying down as you are at night.

During the course of the day gravitational pull compresses your spine a bit, unless of course, you spend the whole of your day laying down.

i believe its the fluid in your spine and the disc's that compress during the day, and over the night your laying down and there is no vertical pressure on your back.

Never heard of that before but that's a good assumption. Your posture has alot to do with it. Older people shrink due to osteoporosis and other back /bone deformities over time but not back and forth a different height every day!

It's called gravity - pulls you down all day long.
