But i live in a Duplex apartment in NYC, its real big, but honestly, i understand not all dogs are made for apartment living, the sites say its a good apartment dog, but i was wondering if anyone owns one and has an idea from practical experience with them.

As far as being able to exist without a back yard to run in, it would probably be ok, but a lot of the terriers bark a lot!! You might want to consider that before getting one.

i have three close friends of mine & i can see that they had d same apartment & in-house dog which is a Shiz-Tzu. At my own experience & opinion, that kind of dog is a good pet if you want a good temperament type....but, it will still depends on your type of one, if it's mixed breed or pure one...here 3 are my other choices:
basset hound, greyhound & biewer...
for you to have a more information about their description, temperament, living conditions, life expectancy, grooming etc. try check the link below: (i hope this helps you find what your looking for)

They shed too much year round. Unless, you plan to clean it up constantly. Pugs are pretty good apartment dogs. They have short hair and are pretty small. They are very playful but get tired quick so they will sleep 50% of thier time.

Before you 'decide' on a particular breed that you may "want" do some research.

Start here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Terrier

http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=Skye+Terrier&ei=UTF-8&fr=ks-ans&search_type=http%3A%2F%2Frds.yahoo.com%2F_ylt%3DAhnyiYmR3d6lNx6DlhrJw2kazKIX%2FSIG%3D111gjvvgj%2F*-http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fsearch&p=Skye+Terrier

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=t&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-18,GGLD:en&q=skye+terrier+dogs

Extensive researching will give you a better idea of what you're in for with that particular breed. It'll also tell you if you'll be able to provide proper care for that breed, e.g.: What kind of room it needs to be happy.

And REMEMBER always spay or neuter your pets to keep the pet overpopulation problem down.

Good Luck!

GO TO ***SHOWS****!!!!
MEET *real* dogs,in-the-flesh!!!Talk to the people who actually KNOW *&* CARE about thier breeds.
