I was at Michigan state this morning and not one young man or woman cared about what was going on in Iraq. I said to one lady in the lunch room "More troops were killed in Iraq today". She said "SO". Then she turned to her friend and stated "Paris Hilton got arrested yesterday!! Ohhhh!! How horrible"......So tell me again how America supports the Iraqi war.

Why? Probably because there are FAR FAR FAR more traffic fatalities than Iraq war fatalities.

In 2003...
Michigan had 1,283 traffic fatalities. An average of 3.52 per day.
Michigan had 20 Iraq war fatalities. An average of 0.05 per day.

In 2004...
Michigan had 1,159 traffic fatalities. An average of 3.17 per day.
Michigan had 18 Iraq war fatalities. An average of 0.05 per day.

In 2005...
Michigan had 1,129 traffic fatalities. An average of 3.09 per day.
Michigan had 34 Iraq war fatalities. An average of 0.09 per day.

In 2006...
Michigan has had 24 Iraq war fatalities. An average of 0.10 per day.

How come I observe "NO" protesters and "NO ONE" giving a hoot about people killed on Michigan roads? This includes you!

DO SOME RESEARCH!!!

Generally most Americans support the troops regardless of whether they support the war. You had a run in with someone who doesn't give a crap. Sorry about that. Its pretty sad when people are more interested in Paris Hilton than the security of this nation.

Times have certainly changed. My dad tells me often about how different the reactions to Vietnam were from the reactions to Iraq. People in the streets, riots, police, protesters, uproars, deaths, you don't see that nowadays, probably because Americans either aren't as bothered anymore by war or they aren't as bold.

The bottom line is: War is war. Whether the soldiers volunteered or not, we KNOW we shouldn't be in Iraq. Just because some shallow-minded people think "Well, they knew what they were volunteering for" does not mean they deserve to die and that's that. That point is: they're dying and they do not need to be. We KNEW we shouldn't have been in Vietnam, and citizens marched in the streets to prove that. Americans as a whole just aren't as disturbed anymore to aggressively take action. It's really disheartening.

I'm a 16 year old in high school and, as despicable as Bush and his policies are to me, I'm still not courageous enough to get out in the street and scream and be on the news and all of that. I respect the effort people made in the past, but it still intimidates me.

More than likely Michigan State is a very liberal University. All the students and teachers care about is which celeb got arrested yesterday. Typical left winged wackos!!

You "observed" exactly one lady in a cafeteria, and you foolishly extend that to all of America. Belive me, its not hard to find better examples of American political thinking, if you bother to look. Also America is some 67% opposed to the disaster in Iraq, by lastest polls.

I support our troops, but I don't tell everyone that more of them were killed. If you didn't know this, those soldiers signed up for it, they new that they could die while over in Iraq. Instead of pointing that out, why don't you SUPPORT them.

Uh maybe they didn't have a protest scheduled for the time you were there, you know sometimes they have to go to school to LEARN things too.

America doesn't support the Iraq war. Where have you been? We want our troops to come home.

I care very much and I would like to see Bush held accountable for their deaths. Bring our sons and daughters home where they belong.
