I have been to see my GP and a dermatologist. I have had blood tests done which have been normal. I am only 22 and open to suggestions. My dermatologist reccommended regaine but as soon as you stop using that, the symptoms come back. I am open to alternative therapy suggestions.

Ok now is the time for you to really take care of your hair there are these pills called Avacore and Hair Genesis use this as directed. While you are taking that also you can take one iron pill and a prenatal vitamin. You can use a aloe plant if your hair is in braids and that will also help. if you get wash and sets you can use Organic Root Stimulaotr and that will help your hair not to be dry. I hope that I helped.

Hi - you need to see a tricologist firstly. They have extensive knowledge of hair and scalp. Hair thinning and falling can be a symptom of many different diseases/conditions etc. Vitamin B deficiencies related to an iron deficiencies can cause hair loss and thinning as well as hereditary conditions like male pattern balding (found in men and woman), stress etc. Did your Dr check your Iron count? A good homoepath will assess and help balance any abnormalities. If when you stop using regaine the symptoms are masked Id say its something systemic and would you to speak with a herbalist also. If you would like I can recommend some people i know who are excellent (based across London). Mostly try not too worry - it only makes matters worse. Good luck and i hope this helps

My stylist told me they sell these shampoos now with NIOXIN. Apparenty, according to him, mites that live on the scap eat the sebum and somehow they weaken the hair and cause it to thin.

He says using this shampoo everyday reduces the sebum, which reduces the mites since they have no food source, and will stop the thinning of your hair. He says hes been using it for a while now and find very little hair in the shower after he is done, as opposed to a year ago he would have a great deal.

I dont know much about it, but thought id pass it along. Its stuff you just buy in a salon.

GNC has a supplement called "Nourishair" that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it.
Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health
If you take only Biotin alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourshair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see results.

there may not be anything 'wrong' with you- it can be heriditary. you get the baldness genes from your mom so you may not even know of any relatives that had this problem BUT it could still be there... nioxin is really supposed to help some people and rogaine is seriously respected... unfortunately- depending on your future financial plans- you may need to either invest in a lot of hats or hair plugs (very painful but can effective). I hope you choose neither and realize that you look great with or without hair. Bald men are very sexy! even at our age ;)

thyroid checked and all that, too, right?

rogaine can cause unwanted side effects---high blood pressure, weight gain, etc.

Go see a good plug doctor and get "seeded". End of story.
