can a truck get better gas mileage with or with out a camper shell?

if you want better mileage, take off the camper as it creates a wind drag, also remove the tailgate and use a net gate or put a sheet of plywood in the bed at an angle from the front of the bed to the tailgate this acts as an air deflector

according to my hubby..he says better mileage without the camper..less weight.
