Believe it or not, I love to fish. Mostly bass, crappie and blue gill. I used to live in Indiana and my husband and I went all the time. He got started fishing in tournaments with guys that were already in Bass Tournaments. They would use their boats and Joe would fish out of that boat. He says its a blast. The more you fish, the more chances you have to get to the big Bass Tourneys. You really have to prove yourself and to others, that you can catch fish just as good if not better than others.

I, have caught bass larger than Jimmy Houston. My husband told me once I caught a fish bigger than his, then I would bait my own hook. It wasn't long before I was doing just that. My husband and I believed in the catch and release way of fishing. We would only keep enough blue gill and crappie for us to eat but all the bass went back in to catch another time.

But most of all, I think the real trick to this fishing is to have FUN. Their are so many on TV that are paid millions to have fun. Have confidence in yourself and use the knowledge that you have already acquired and you will go far....

I need to add one more thing. Make sure you have a good rod and reel for these Bass Tourneys. The line has a lot to do with the feel of the fish. I could name some but everyone is different. But don't use any cheap rod and reel. You are wasting your money.

Good luck to you now and in your future. Happy Fishing.....

BASS local chapters is the best starting place. Some recent changes in local federations have made things a little difficult to understand though. This is still the only way a weekend amatuer bass fisherman can make it to the Bass Masters Classic. FLW has a similar format and affiliation to amateurs.

between the most acceptable places to study the ropes is in "club" tournaments. You get to attempt your skills adverse to different well matched fishermen and %. up some large tips and some pals alongside the way. different then that, attempt your success in buddy kind tournaments the position you could fish along with your buddy and perchance win some funds. both are large places to study and compete at the same time.

Try and get your workplace to sponsor you and get you a bass boat. Tell them all the publicity they will get and the customers they will get is more then the boat is. Also note that it is a tax-writeoff for them ;)
