only if you make a profit on what you sell..if you sell a blouse for $10 that you paid $40 for there is no gain..if you sell a baseball that cost you $10 and you sell it for $100 you owe tax on the gain minus expenses

You are supposed to claim all your income, no matter how you make it, even if it is a garage sale. However, I doubt anyone will trace it, unless you are making your living off of only ebay. Or someone claims their purchase from you as an expense.
