Just because it is an email doesn't automatically mean it is a scam. I have an online account set up with them. Every Monday I would get an email from them telling me what I had won.

Anyway, as said by a number of people unless you have bought a ticket online or subscribed to the lottery then it sounds like a scam I'm afraid.

This is a major scam. First of all if you won from a lottery, you would be contacted via registered mail or telephone only. NEVER via an email. Secondly, if you visit the Consumer Alerts website they have listed all the current and previous internet scams. You should check it out.

It is a scam, a while ago I got one from the National Lottery. On phoning them they told me it was a scam, the e mail even having the proper lottery logos and images to make you think it was real when it wasn;t ! Beware

Ignore it! It's a scam. A real lottery would contact you via registered mail, not some random email.

of course it is a scam - have you entered any lotteries with this company ? if the answer is no it is a scam as how can you win if you never entered in the first place. The other scam is having to send money to get your prize. why do you have to pay to get your winnings ??

The bottom line is have you bought a lottery ticket or entered a competition to win one, if the answer to both questions is no then it must be a scam

Two reasons why it is almost certainly a scam.

One, you can't win a lottery you didn't enter.

Two, the UK National Lottery is only legal in the United Kingdom and on the Isle of Man, according to their own rules and website. If you aren't physically in that region, it isn't legal.

I received this one about 2 months ago and thought I was on to a winner as it looked quite real. Then we went on to a web site and found out it was a scam and all people do is send out the same letter but change their names etc!

A ton of BS. I've recieved similar ones from Belgium, Nigeria, and the such... if any e-mail comes in telling you you've won money, or an ex-leader of some nation wants to access your bank account to store his money and give you a cut... it's completely scam-alicious.
