I am using Linux Ubuntu, from a live cd, (I am begining to get anoyed by vista being so controling of me). I can download programs, but i can not install them. I have 1gb of ram.

I know how ubuntu gets you free soft ware, go to applications, add and remoce, and install it, i mean stuf like iTunes, Flash, ect...

By default, Add/Remove Programs only gives you access to the default software repositories, which only contain free software. Flash plugins, for example, are available for Linux, but you need to add extra software repositories to the list of repositories that Add/Remove Programs will search.
The easiest way to do this is to go to http://easyubuntu.freecontrib.org/get.html and type the 4 instructions in the first box into a terminal window in Ubuntu. This will download and install codecs for playing MP3s and DVDs, and it will also add extra repositories. You can then download extra stuff using Add/Remove Programs (you may need to enable the new software repositories first).
You also need to be aware that many well-known software titles don't run on Linux. This is not a problem, because other programs are available for doing the same jobs. All you need to do is search the repositories for software that will perform a particular function (such as music organiser) instead of searching for a particular application title (such as iTunes).
Also remember that if you're running from a live cd, all changes you make (which includes any software you install) will be lost when you reboot. If you want to be able to make permenant changes you will have to install Ubuntu to the hard disk. Simply click on the Install icon on the desktop and follow the wizard. Be careful not to overwrite your Windows partition, if you want to keep it.

There are only 2 reasons you can't install anything on any computer.
1. You don't know how.
2. You are not logged in as an Administrator.

WHY ARE YOU USING LINUX. THATS YOUR PROBLEM LINUX WONT LET YOU INSTALL ANYTHING, GET WINDOWS AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING.
