Yes, take preferably to the place you bought them from. They can strip the coating. If it is Lenscrafters, they will tell you that they can not remove it, but it is just a ploy for you to buy new lenses. (I'm an optician in a private practice).
There is usually a 1-2 year warranty(depending on the optical store) on the coating.

Dont let this detour you from anti-glare coating. There are really good brands out there that are built in the lens and won't flake or peel off. (i.e. Teflon brand coating).

If the soap and water is the only thing that works, then use it if you've had no problems. Just make sure you are using a very mild soap with no additives. Rinse well and use the a soft eyeglass cloth to dry them. Normally those eyeglass sprays that the optician sells work pretty well especially when used with the microfiber cloths. If you are having this much trouble cleaning your glasses, you ought to bring them back to the optical store you purchased them from and ask them to check the anti-glare coating. It would be much appreciated by those who answered your question if you picked a best answer. So many Yahoo Questioners don't which make me wonder if the answers are actually read.

I used to work at an optical place, and you would need to take your glasses to an optician. There is a chemical they can use to remove anti-glare, though they don't like to tell you that. There isn't anything that you can use. If you do, it will only ruin your glasses and cause there to be a foggy coating on them. You will also probably scratch them if you try to remove the coating yourself.

I hated the anti-glare coating on my glasses. I had the place that made the glasses remove it. It was done very quickly and at no cost to me. (Don't expect a refund on the additional cost you paid to have the anti-glare coating put on to begin with.)
