If you have thick hair then wet-to-straight is probably not the best for your hair. My hair is very thick and the wet-to-straight ones did nothing for me so I sold them on eBay!
I have now bought a pair of Trevor Sorbie ceramic straighteners, they cost £50 and are easily as good as GHDs (I know there will be a lot of people who say nothing is as good as GHDs but they have been around for a fair few years now so other companies have had plenty of time to develop their straighteners). They also have an adjustable temperature control which GHDs don't have. I also use Toni & Guy ceramic iron protector spray (about £7 in Boots/Superdrug but you only need to use a small amount at a time so it lasts ages!).
The smaller sections you do then the longer your hair will stay straight. To do the back (if I don't have much time) I turn my head upside down and run the straighteners over my hair, then flick it back over and run the straighteners over the top. Once my hair is straight I use Charles Worthington smoothing serum (costs about £1.50 for a 'takeaway' sized bottle).

i'm lucky enough to have pin-straight hair lol, but i do my mums and brothers hair for them. I would advise you ask someone to help you do it, but maybe this isn't convenient or possible in your situation so perhaps the best way to do it, i think is start at one side and work your way around the head to the other side. Depending on the thickness of your hair, i suggest tying up the top section of your hair into a mini bun whilst doin the underneath sections. Take strips of hair about an inch in width, and run the straighteners down the whole length. Check, perhaps using a mirror, that it is completley poker straight, and if not, go over it again. do all of the bottom, before letting down the top section, and repeat the process.
There are also lots of beauty products, gels, sprays, creams, etc, which are ideal to use whilst straightening. My mums hair is quite wild at times, so i use a gel, which dramatically achieves straightening effects when used with straighteners also. I can't remember the exact product, but your local shop, i.e Superdrug, Boots... should have all the products you'll need.

Hi it all depends on what type of hair you actually have my hair is quite thick so i need a high heat hair straightener. Anything below 200 doesnt so a thing, as for wet to straight i have some of them and they wreck my hair if i use them on wet hair, but they are good on full heat on dry hair but on wet hair they do not work at all, this is mainly because you cant get close to your roots to straigten and this could be where your going wrong. The best thing to do if you want poker straight hair is to use whatever shampoo you want, preferable a strengthening and smoothing one, then apply leave in conditioner and use a heat protection spray. Blow dry your hair, dont use wet to straight on your wet hair. Turn on you hair straightener to the highest heat, then clip up the top section of the hair and straigten underneath then take them down and clip up layer by layer. If you want poker straight hair its best for you to get someone a family member to do it for you it only takes a few seconds. My hair only goes poker straight when my mum does it as i cant see which bits i havent done, You can also get heat protection spary you spray on each section before you run the straigteners over it try Charles Worthington Stay Smooth heat protection spray. If this still doesnt work get another pair of hair straighteners. I used to use kodo these are good but i got some GHD as a gift and they are brilliant and dont damage or pull the hair.

It won't develop your probabilities of inheriting baldness, besides the fact that it could make a number of your hair fall out in case you do no longer use adequate product. I say straighten your hair in case you think of it makes you look sturdy, because of the fact which you purely have a million life to be beautiful.

Use a Ceramic Iron from Hot Tools and buy the highest voltage .And then you can get a soft gel or serum to keep it shiney, or u can use a little baby oil after wards. I am not sure how much it is. My naural hair is curly and rough and this Iron is soo good. Make sure you use it on dry hair only.

ok. Remington is a really good hair starightner. You should use a little bit of hait first and straighten it. when u put your hair in the hair straightner go down slowly. You should get a ghd hair straightner but they are round about £100 they heat up in 6 seconds
i hope i helped u :)

use serum first like frizz ease spray wit a heat proof spay and pin all of your hair up and leave a really small section of hair straighten that and then do another bit its tedious and annoying so why not break the mould and go forangel curls or waves

you need ghd's. they're the best. you need to make sure the sections you're straightening arent too thick and you also need to comb the section through before straightening it. that way you're straightening hair you've already straightening more or less, not just flattening curls in the irons.
