Hi fellow,
In the culture that Jesus lived in - it was a friendly (in a non-sexual sort of way) way to greet one another. i believe many Middle-Eastern cultures still have people greet each other that way- where men and women kiss one another on each cheek (regardless of gender).
Some people will try to use that out of context- to suggest that Jesus was promoting this or that... he was simply encouraging us to give warm friendly hellos to one another.
Hope that helps,
Nickster

In the Ancient Middle East, as well as in the Middle East today, it is customary to greet one another with a kiss. This kiss was not on the lips, but a head-to-head, shoulder-to-shoulder greeting that bears little resemblance to kissing in the modern world. It was a greeting that sometimes involved kissing the individual on the forehead, or the beard. It was always between men and never between a man and a woman. The fact that the Bible calls it a holy kiss should guard against any mistaken notions as to its purpose and intent.

It is middle east custom to greet people with a kiss on the cheek. You can find this in many of the mediteranean countries as well. Sometimes if you watch TV, you can see this..a holy kiss would just be a greeting in the name of Jesus.

Kiss of acceptance. A hug or smile are similar. Holy means set apart & special. Holy and saint are same thing. Saints to kiss / accept fellow saints in the congregation. Love one another.

The Greek word is "philema" which has a root in "phileo" which means friend. So by implication it means a friendly token. It is still very common in Middle Eastern and other cultures for friends to greet this way.

The innumerable family of God is just that. A family united in Christ. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves but especially those fellow Christians.
Galatians 6:10
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all [men], especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Thus the holy kiss is to greet one another in Christ-like agape love without any sexual connotation.

It means to kiss with a pure heart. My guess is that its your souls kissing not just your mouth. The same way you kiss your mom or sister, Father or brother

a million Corinthians 14:34-35 "enable your women folk keep silence contained in the churches: for that's not accepted unto them to talk; yet they are commanded to be below obedience as also saith the regulation. 35 And in the adventure that they're going to study any component, enable them ask their husbands at homestead: for it truly is a shame for women folk to talk contained in the church. that sounds stupid. now i quite opt to randomly run right into a church and commence screaming :D yet in any case no.... it means you commence making out with them ;)
