Let's see if we can nail down a little history and associate it with war declarations.

The Bristish DID NOT declare war on us in regard to the Revolutionary War....we had not yet ratified ourselves as an independent nation until 1789 (thus no official country as the USA) and we weren't recognized as a sovereign country by France (first) until after the war ended in 1783 when the Treaty of Paris was signed. The British House of Commons took until April 1782 to vote the war was over even after the battles had ceased in September of 1781.

Guess their Internet was down...

The Brits DID NOT start the War of 1812. The US declared war on Britian (mainly regarding trade on the high seas) on June 8, 1812...ending February 13, 1814.

The Mexican- American War (April 25th, 1846) was initiated by the US annexing Texas on the grounds of Manifest Destiny. As I recall, the government of Mexico (Spanish control) was so weak that it's greatest general of the war (Santa Ana) was in exile in Cuba when it began with a fight Mexico attacked a southern Texas border town. But since Texas was not yet part of the USA.....no delraration was possible. Eventually Mexico granted Texax and partof California to the USA as part of the Treaty of Hildalgo...but you might want toc heck that point.

The Confederacy didn't declare War on the Union, the Union went to war to keep the southern states in the USA....thus, the was no declaration of war from either side.

The Spanish American War began after the USS Maine, an American battleship "mysteriuosly" exploded in Havana harbor. It caused President McKinley to call for an "intervention" against Cuba which the US Congress agreed to but not a declaration of war. Date.. April 25, 1898.

WW I, after repearted attacks on US shipping (incuding the sinking of the Lusitaniain 1915) President Wilson, the the US President...declared War on Germany and its allies; not the reverse.

WWII....the US declared war on Japan (and the other axis powers...Germany and Italy) for the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese Imperial Empire claims that they "tried" to deliver officical Declarations of War on December 6th,1941 to Britian, Canada, Australia and the USA...but apparently they were a little late getting their Dec of War to us since it wasn't delivered to the US War Department in Washington,DC AFTER the attack on Pearl Harbor was over.

So in a legal sense I find myself to identify an enemy declaring waron us directly.

Korean and Viet Nam were known as UN policeactions. In fact were are technically at a stte of cease fire with North Korea and not at peace.

I think that aboutcovers I recall from studing history in collehe and he military.

This is not a listing of who actually declared war on the US or who the US declared war on, but it is a listing of major conflicts since the Revolution.

1801 - Tripolitan States
1812 - Great Britain
1846 - Mexico
1861 - Confederated States of America
1898 - Spain
1917 - Germany & Austria-Hungary
1941 - Japan, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania
1950 - North Korea
1964 - North Vietnam (Never declared)
1991 - Iraq (Never declared)
2001 - Afganistan (Never declared)
2003 - Iraq (Never declared)

And yes, there are many, many small incidents, attacks, incursions, bombings, naval bombardments, etc. that have happend over the years, but I tried to limit this list to more formal military affairs.

Israel won't declare conflict on turkey. even with the placement in the final couple of years, israel nevertheless recollects turkey as an best chum. because of the fact of that, israel maintaina a relationship with turkey even now and save on hoping that Erdogan will lose his place of work. there is no wind of conflict right here.
