In the beginning of our relationship, my boyfriend of six months acted very insecure and told me i was too good for him and i deserved someone better. His friends teased him in front of me about it too saying I was way too pretty and nice to be with him. The thing is-he's attractive to me and many women, he seems confident and he even seems cocky at times. He also teases me a lot and it sometimes gets relentless. He also almost NEVER compliments me and he often criticizes every little thing i do. Is he doing this out of his own insecurity? What is going on with him? Please help!

he isn't truly confident. or at least with you. he really does like you but you're his weakness. either that or he's reading a book on how to act with girls (David D'Angelo) and not being his self! break him out of this! he has to be real with you. tell him that. i bet he'll understand!

Just tell him that you don't like him criticizing every little thing you do, and tell that if he doesn't quit it, you're going to have to end the relationship. Relationships have to have defined and loud boundaries otherwise the other person will continue to break your "silent" boundaries because they won't know.

he's read the game by neil strauss as well as watched David D'angelo - basically everything he's doing is what these guys say you should do to attract a woman. Wow, it works!

Not to be mean, but ....
Maybe its just the opposite and thinks youre not good enough and just doesn't want to make you feel bad...
I mean, I don't know what you look like or what your personality is like, but if he doesn't like you, leave. You will find someone who does appreciate you for just how you are.

absolutely.....bringing you down makes him feel bigger. and the fact that you remained with him boosts his ego. find someone who is secure enough to treat you with the respect a lady deserves

he is trying to over-compensate... and his friends will be teasing him because of the way you look.. ;)
