Because people like it when you agree with them.

You cant prove them false, you cant prove either one true either. You really just have to accept the fact that religion is just basically a "creation myth" much like ancient cultures have passed along for generations.

There once was a tribe of indians who believed that the entire world sat on top of a giant turtle shell... that was what they chose to believe.

All religions were created because people are looking for something to believe in, something that gives their lives meaning. Religion is basically an exploitation of that desire in all people. I agree, why worship anything? Maybe the entire planet Earth is just a cell, in some larger being... we are so self-centered as people that we believe that planets are the biggest things that exist in the universe... maybe a planet is microscopic to some huge being that exists... maybe we are a piece of dirt under some larger beings thumbnail, much like viruses are to us!

Think about it!

The same answer as to the Greek question, just change some words:

There is a subtle fallacy in your drawing a comparison between Greek mythology and Christianity:
The term 'Greek mythology' is predicated upon a beleif in beings who are not transcendental but basically super-human and part of nature [they are subject to 'fate' and can become ill {V. Ares trapped in a jar and almost dying}]. The Judeo-Christian God is non-human and beyond nature.

A purely empirical approach will resolve the question of the reality of the Olympians as they are tied to our world.

Hence, it is the fallacy of the over-extended term to compare the two as their respective predicates are radically different and not united as you assumed.

that is where faith comes in... which do you believe? not all religions can be true, as they contradict each other...

my advice? always seek the truth. you will always find God in the truth. if that is christianity then so be it. if it is egyptian mythology then start there. you will be able to seek truth from no matter where you start, but you may end up in an entirely new place!

You shouldn't worship a faith or mythology. You should worship ONLY God.

"Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradiction and error."
[Qur'an, An-Nisa 4:82]

If you think these religions or beliefs are false. Then how did you come to be as a human. I know all about the birds and bees. But, were you here when the world were first created and where are going to go when you die?

Welp, the bible says that salvation can come through no one else but Jesus Christ. I've never heard of anyone saying that if they worship a mummy then they will get to heaven. That's a big part of the picture for me!

Word to the (un)wise from Luke 16:19-31:

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23In hell,[c] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

25"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

27"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'

31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Don't worship anything if you don't want. I believe because I need someone to lean on, and other personal reasons. But if you don't think you need him, don't believe. Just be sure to research it first...in case you have to explain WHY you don't believe.
