Ours, of course. No law is given except it be for our good.

Way back when, the best way to get a lot of people to do (or not do) a certain thing was to make it part of religious law. Since eating pigs made folks sick, eating pigs was banned. Now that we know that undercooking pork causes trichinosis there's no longer a scientific reason to avoid the meat. However, the tradition is now several thousand years old and folks still abide by it.

For our sake-raw pork not well cooked can make a person get sick they get worms in their body-can't think of the word right now! and if too much is eaten then a person's blood pressure can get out of hand! Way too high!!! GOD already knows all the things that we as humans have to learn!!

a) We have no proof that a "god" exists or does not exist. b) if there WERE a "god", I seriously doubt that PORK would be one of its top concerns! c) bans against certain foods (laws of Kosher, e.g.) originated in ancient times when a) people saw what happened when humans ate undercooked food and b) because the Hebrews didn't want to do whatever the Canaanites did! So, quit worrying, cook your pork thoroughly, if you MUST eat an animal that rolls about in its own filth, and QUIT wasting your time on such a silly, antiquated BEEF!

It's old news to us, but didn't you ever wonder how the writer of that particular scripture knew? Today, we know about sanitation, and hygiene, etc...back then, all they knew was that if they trusted God and obeyed the law, they didn't get sick. Cool, huh?
I'd hate to be a female, on the rag, living in the desert, without indoor plumbing. Not only would the smell be horrible, but I would be one nasty b*tch to deal with! Staying away from me under those circumstances would be VERY good advice, for everyone's sake!!

Ours.....I once took care of a woman in the hospital who came from Mexico....She had trichinosis and the worms had infested her brain from eating bad pork...Very sad.
If people can't reason it out to just cook the damn stuff, then men have to make up laws to govern their behavior to avoid it...
I would rather ponder the meaning of life over an occasional Jimmy Dean sausage biscuit. However, too much will clog the arteries and make you fat.

God was anti pork when people were ignorant to the fact that you have to cook it well and keep it in the refridgerator at least.
If you'll notice alot of what is in the bible it there to 'protect' the ignorant. For others what's in the bible is just common sense.

what does "pig-sick" mean? Who knows who wrote that part of the bible, all I know is that pigs are scavengers, rats are a scavenger, somewhere along the line we started eating pigs...who knows the answer to that. I don't think God had anything to do with any laws against eating pigs, all I know is that God made pigs.

In the bible God told man not to eat pig meat because they are dirty animals. They eat rats and feces and many other dirty things making them bad to eat. But since those days, many farms monitor the diet of their pigs. That is why we eat it today. It is not considered dirty because they now are made to eat things like grain and corn.

Since pig flesh has many harmful properties to humans, and since God loves his children, the laws he makes are for our sakes...
Pork was determined to be "unclean" however in the new testament this rule was no longer implemented.
Some Christians still believe that this dietary law still holds merit. The pig is an extremely filthy animal that does not have sweat glands,so all of the toxins stay inside the flesh, its not a healthy choice of foods.
that being said its not a requirement to avoid pork to be a Christian!
the following is from a refrence
pig’s bodies contain many toxins, worms and latent diseases. Although some of these infestations are harbored in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far more predisposed to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because pigs like to scavenge and will eat any kind of food, including dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta (including their own), garbage, and other pigs.
Influenza (flu) is one of the most famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is harbored in the lungs of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and humans in the cooler months. Sausage contains bits of pigs’ lungs, so those who eat pork sausage tend to suffer more during epidemics of influenza.
Pig meat also contains excessive quantities of histamine and imidazole compounds, which can lead to itching and inflammation; growth hormone, which promotes inflammation and growth; sulphur-containing mesenchymal mucus, which leads to swelling and deposits of mucus in tendons and cartilage, resulting in arthritis, rheumatism, etc. Sulphur helps cause firm human tendons and ligaments to be replaced by the pig’s soft mesenchymal tissues, and degeneration of human cartilage. Eating pork can also lead to gallstones and obesity, probably due to its high cholesterol and saturated fat content. The pig is the main carrier of the taenia solium worm, which is found it its flesh. These tapeworms are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it reaches beyond a certain stage.
One in six people in the US and Canada has trichinosis from eating trichina worms which are found in pork. Many people have no symptoms to warn them of this, and when they do, they resemble symptoms of many other illnesses. These worms are not noticed during meat inspections, nor are they killed by salting or smoking. Few people cook the meat long enough to kill the trichinae. The rat (another scavenger) also harbors this disease.
There are dozens of other worms, germs, diseases and bacteria which are commonly found in pigs, many of which are specific to the pig, or found in greater frequency in pigs.
Pigs are biologically similar to humans, and their meat is said to taste similar to human flesh. Pigs have been used for dissection in biology labs due to the similarity between their organs and human organs. People with insulin-dependent diabetes usually inject themselves with pig insulin. If you pour Coke (yes, the soda) on a slab of pork, and wait a little while, you will see worms crawl out of it.
