Go to a beauty store like "sallys" and get those flat irons.. they always work best. Also buy some spray to put on before you use it so it gets rid of the frizziness... just look at the local stores and ask the workers to help

After washing your hair towel dry it to get excess water out. Then, section it and dry it section by section. Sectioning strictly gives you control. You can use the salon professional product by Matrix called Sleek Looks as a shampoo and conditioner. Matrix also has a Sleek Looks spray which you use in correlation with your flat iron. NEVER use a flat iron on wet hair. The reason it's damaging is because you're hair is more prone to breakage when wet.

Get a ceramic flat iron, they might cost more money but they seem to glide through hair easier and get hotter than a cheap iron. Good brands would be a Chi (expensive) or HotTools(within budget). When you're all done with straightening I recommend using a nickel sized amount of BioSilk by Farouk throughout your hair. It tames fly-aways and smells great!

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME HAIR. Like to a T. Well, first of all. It takes time. There's nothing that you can do really. Straightening it with a flat iron is the only way to go. I spend about 2 hours at night straightening my hair and then another 30 minutes in the morning fixing it. It's such a hassle. And DON'T wash your hair everyday either. You're hair will be in terrible condition if you do that. Good luck. There's just not a whole lot you can do to get PERFECTLY STRAIGHT hair without taking the time to do it. Good luck, sweetie!

The ionic ping is a great flat iron. Also the Maximus maxi glide is a great one too for the wavy hair. I ordered mine from a infomercial and love it! :-) Also get a hair straightening shampoo and conditioner, super straight or something like that. Also use a shine syrum. It helps a ton. Good luck :-)

you do NOT need to do all this in the morning... you can do it in the evening and touch up in the morning.... and the oil, once or twice a week

Take any of the following oils.....
Olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil, and apply to the hair, WHILE ITS DRY! Work it through from scalp to ends, cover with some type of plastic cap.. then take a towel HOT from the dryer, and wrap it around your head turban style..... Leave it on for about one hour, or even more for extra dry, damaged hair.
Wash your hair with a tiny bit of moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Run your hair under cold water. Squeeze out the excess water and apply straightning/frizz serum to your hair. Apply to the ends of your hair, not to the roots, so that they don't get oily. You might want to add some mousse for extra hold.
Detangle any knots using a wide-toothed comb If your hair is really knotty, try using a detangling spray. Do not brush!
Pin up the top section of your hair and use the round brush to blow dry your hair. Hold the hair sections out taut and point the hairdryer down to dry it. Do this section by section, so that your hair is completely dry. You may want to then dry up the hair, from the neck to the end of the strands. This makes it easier to get the hair on the back of the head.
If you have decided to use a hair straightener, put your hair into sections again, and run over your hair with the straightener. Grip one section of hair. Clamp the flat iron onto the top portion of the section. Slowly, move the iron down your hair. Repeat up to three times.
Brush hair, and finish off with a small amount of serum.

Tips
Before you get out of the shower, rinse your hair with cold water. This will make your hair extra shiny!
When blowdrying your hair, make sure the hairdryer is pointing down, so that all the hair folicles point down, which equals super shiny hair, which is the look we're going for! Also, before blow-drying, consider applying a heat protection spray.
Don't use too much hair serum or hair products, because you don't want your hair to look lank and greasy.
Some good products to try: Chi Silk Infusion or Redken Smooth Down, Nexxus Heat Protexx.
If your hair is fragile, use a low setting on the iron. If it's thick and unruly, make the heat almost the hottest it can be.

Warnings
Don't brush your hair when it's wet, because it stretches and breaks the hair. Always use a wide-toothed comb.
If you're in a rush and need to dry your hair, don't take the easy way out and use your hair straightner when it's wet. See that steam coming out? It dries out your hair. Always use a hairdryer prior to straightening.
ALWAYS use heat protection spray or else your hair will get damaged from straightener. oh and straightners.... I like the hot tools you can get in the beauty supply they ahve a huge temp range for all types of hair.... they are like 40 bucks... but worth every penny.

make sure you are getting trims regularly...you might even ask the stylist about long layers yo help eliminate the bulk, while saving the length... just a thought...

and check out pantene's new restorative line they make one for frizz.... it rocks! Best thing out there in my opinion....

sorry doing that will mess with the grain of your hair. i know i have hair like that.

make your peace with it... work with the grain of your hair and you may end up enjoying it more than the idea you're having right now.

i tried that for a long time then gave up because it made my hair worse.

fighting it is only going to make it worse.

try working along with it.. maybe drop by the salon and ask if there's a cut that will accentuate your waves without it going crazy on ya.

there's more cuts that work against your hair... look for someone who understands hair like yours.

irons will burn it to pieces...

use conditioners.. pantene for curly hair.. it's amazing what it will do for your hair.

A ceramic or ionic straightner from Sally's works great and is cheaper than one from a salon. bedhead stick wax works great to hide frizz and keep it straight in humidity.
