Seems pretty extreme to me. Is gender bias okay with Mohammed and his allah?

1) First of all, this has nothing to do with Islam generally. Everyone knows that Saudi Arabia has its own brand of Wahabbism that is much more conservative/extreme than the rest of the Muslims in the world, pretty much. What Saudi does is not representative of Muslims or Islam generally!

2) Second, it is unclear whether this is even being considered/done or not. As you can see from the article, there are conflicting sources.

3) Third, even many Saudis are strongly opposed to this measure, as you can see from the journalists and lawyers quoted in the article link you gave. So we can't gneralize about Saudis, and especially not about Islam and "gender bias" from something like this--I mean, it hasn't even happened yet!

4) Islam provides gender equality. Women are entitled to jobs, careers, education, inheritance, political power, voting power, economic independence--you name it. However, Islam recognizes that naturally men and women are different, yet still equal. So the emphasis placed on their various roles in society is slightly different. But they are still totally equal.

5) This may never even happen. My friend just returned from Mecca last week and she said she never saw this or heard of it. Let's see what happens--maybe there are just a few loose cannons voicing their opinion about this.

Peace Be Upon You (Assalamu alaykum).

In Islam, the best place for a women to pray is in her house. This is because they respect women. They do not want them to mix with men. Animal are the only creatures that male & female are mixing together with out any respect!

if you read all of the article you will find these statments:

"The prophet, who is the first leader of Muslims, didn't do it," said Mohsen al-Awajy, an Islamist lawyer and cleric. "Those who are proposing the change after him have to come up with legal justification for it."
