Whenever science has proven any obviously flaws with the Bible the Christian explanation has been "the Bible is not meant to be taken literally".

Whenever you question a Christian on how they arrive at their conclusions without factual basis the Christian explanation is that you must have "faith".

Using these type of explanations seems so logical to those emotionally attached to it as it would appear that they are always right, but these style of explanations absorb all reasoning whether it is right or wrong.

It reminds me of the Amway rep that who upon my questioning all the details of the marketing plan that didn't add up professed that if I didn't believe in the opportunity I could never make it happen.

If the defense of suggesting "faith" (or lack of it) is to be used by Christian's in the face of any objection, are Christians not setting themselves up to block any logic no matter who is right or wrong? Is this any different than the logic of fundamentalist Muslims?

One could ask the same about atheism.
Atheists have faith that it all happened by chance alone:

The exact linear sequence of DNA spontaneously appeared (without any help from proteins, since there was no DNA to code for proteins yet) that coded for all of the genes/proteins necessary for self-replication
AND the complementary strand appeared to stabilize the first strand

AND the exact amino acid sequence for RNA polymerase spontaneously appeared. (DNA by itself is worthless. DNA by itself is worthless. Therefore, for abiogenesis to occur, one must not only have a specific DNA or RNA molecule, but also a very specific protein molecule. This molecule is thouands of molecules long and also requires energy.

(RNA polymerase is approximately 400kDaltons; an amino acid is approximately 100Daltons; therefore RNA polymerase is a sequence of roughly 4000 amino acids. The odds of randomly and spontaneously forming this molecule -- even if there were a way to spontaneouly form chains of amino acids -- would be roughly 20 (# of amino acids to choose from) to the 4000th power. The odds of this single event happening by chance is 1 in 1 with 5200 zeros behind it. To put that in perspective, if you made 1 TRILLION proteins every second, it would still take you 1 with 5100 zeros behind it YEARS to come up with the right sequence.)

AND ribosomes spontaneously appeared
AND the tRNA molecules needed for life happened to appear
AND any ATP or other energy molecules necessary appeared

AND all of the above happened to appear within a few microns of each other to be in close enough proximity to interact (almost necessitating a cell membrane)

AND all of the above happened to appear within a very, very short time span, as all of the above molecules are subject to degradation if left exposed to the elements.

AND the DNA just happened to carry a code 1000s of base-pairs long that just so happened to be the exact code for all of the proteins that are necessary to replicate the whole process above.

The answers to all of these questions (we haven't even touched the BIg Bang), according to atheists, is that "Despite the essentially impossible odds, there is a possibility that all of this occurred by chance. Therefore, there is no God."

The real question is "Is the atheist faith system set up to be unarguable?" (One can answer any question with "Just chance.")

All theists are the same.

Their beliefs are absolute, and no matter how reality may contradict them, their beliefs are still correct.

The difference between individuals is that some will politely disagree and others will burn you alive or take your head.

Every revealed religion is the same way. There's no empirical evidence, you either accept it whole-hog, or you don't.
