I'm looking for flowers for bouquets, decorations, and centerpieces. Would like to know some good flowers, preferably some I could order online and make my own arrangements. I'm getting married in May, so I'm looking for flowers that would be in bloom at that time. Thanks!

I too got married in May, although quite some time ago. I had great results with tulips for bouquets and peonies for centerpieces. Both are in bloom in May and, because the peonies themselves are such a large flower (about 3 + inches across), they are terrific to make simple, but lush, centerpieces with lots of greenery.

Be sure to specify light pink, as both peonies and tulips come in lots of shades or pink.

May is the perfect time for a wedding, unless it is on Mothers Day weekend. The flower prices will almost double at that time.

So best to choose a date after that.

There are lots of flowers to choose from:
bridal pink standard tea roses
baby pink or cherry blossom pink spray roses (lots of roses on one stem)
baby pink sweetheart roses (1 rose per stem but much smaller than a standard rose)
mini carnations
alstroemeria lillies (delicate small lillies that are quite durable)
leptosporumum (a frilly elongated stem that is covered in tiny little pink flowers)
baronia (a stem which is covered in a darker pink filler flowerO

Don't forget you can also tint flowers or spray paint them (using a good quality floral spray of course)

mini cala lillies are a favorite in this area. Simply spray the back part of the lilly lightly to get the shade that you want. You can the same with cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids, daisies etc.

Good luck!

Roses tulips and carnations are the first ones you think of...but most white flower can be tinted to a shade of pink by mixing up food coloring with water.... try it to see if it works first but I'd go to a floral market and see what is available, you'd really be surprised at the flowers that are out there that you'd never think of or plain didn't know about. Good Luck!!!!

Try this:
http://www.freshflowersandmore.com/fresh-flowers.html

You can look by month or color to find flowers. On the flowers by month, it also tells you what colors are available for that flower, so you could have an easier time finding fresh than a special order greenhouse flowers that are out of season (and more expensive). If you aren't sure what some of the flowers look like, try the link under it for their old catalog.
Browse around the other places from their menu bar, they have some great supplies, ideas, and pictures.

Then shop around for the best prices.

Have you thought of using silk flowers? At least for bouquets, that is what I did and you can keep it forever, made an extra toss away bouquet.
Try carnations, or pink roses, all flowers can be dyed. Even the silk ones.
Congrats on your wedding and I wish you the best.

Pick any color you want but get them in plastic, that way they will never die ,and you will have them your whole life and able to look back and say yes they look the same as the day I was married , be just like Donald Trump Real Cheapo, spray them with perfume and no one will know but you, no really that's what I did and I am still married 14 years later, first wife use the real cut Flowers and she left before the flowers died , LOL

Ask a florist in your area, and you can probably work out a good deal with them to buy in quantity. The established ones would know the "in season flowers" for a paticular month, and would know where to get out of season flowers for you too. I would suggest either looking up the paticular flower online to be sure it suits what you have in mind, or get the florist to furnish pictures or magazines with what the flower looks like. Some give discounts on weddings also.
Congratulations!

You could look at some baby breaths dyed pink. The little flowers are known as fillers to florists that could sum up with some of your favorite flowers very nicely without destroying the "feel" of it.

Another one you could look at is Geberas, or known as "African Crysantamun". Hope I got the spelling correct. They are beautiful and come in assorted colors. Suitable for all occasions. I'm pretty sure you could get some of them in light pink.

Whatever it is, congratulations to your big day! :D

roses... they're around enough and used enough that growers develop them to be sturdy and in a mulititude of colors and they mix so well with other flowers... how about some pink flowers and orange orchids? with little blue (forgot the name a very tiny flower) to fill around?

mix it up.. since it'll be in may... the time of color and life!

and roses smell so good.. and well they're easy on the nose in some allergy cases. besides if they're not sprayed some like to take them home to use for their bath.. :D

lovely, very lovely flower that a rose is.

well it'll make a good base flower i will suggest that.
