I can never, ever get to sleep when I am suppose to unless I get to play hockey during the day (I know werid, but it is the only thing that wears me out. I work out everyday (bike, skate, walk, run) for at least an hour, but it does not do anything.) I normally go to sleep at midnight, and I can still get up at 6:30 and not be tired during the day. I am only 14, and I know I need more sleep then this, but I do not know how to do that. So, is this unusual? Any ideas on how I can get more sleep?

I know I am stress (we are moving in less then 6 months and we just found out, and on top of school I am taking night classes). So I know that I am stress.

Alright, please help!!!

I'm 31 and i really haven't had a good night of sleep in 10 years. You should see the bags under these eyes. Sleep deprivation is torture. All I can say is to try to keep on exercising and try to avoid sleep medications. They are addictive and will not benefit you in the long run. I wish i had a better answer than this but I would still say exercise and eating properly are the keys to a good night's sleep. Loud apartment neighbors who bang around inside their apartment won't help your cause either. Stay away from that type of living arrangement.

Ok, you can go take a sleep aid called melatonin. You can buy it at a health product store like GNC. Some grocery stores sell it in the vitamin isle. It is totally safe, and not habit forming. You won't have trouble waking up in the morning like you would if you took tylenol PM or something like that. And you don't need a prescription.
It comes in 1mg and 3mg doses. I would start with the 1mg, and move up if that doesn't help. OH... and it's cheap too!
It will help you sleep... I promise. ;-)

You may not need as much sleep as you seem to think. Not everyone needs the same amount of sleep. If you are really concerned, You might try a Yoga DVD before bed. There are some out that are for rest & meditation.

I think at 14 you can get away with less sleep. If you are really worried about this talk to your family doc. Make sure your parents know about this problem as well.

its not unusual for older people. but that kinda unusual especially when you're just 14! you need your sleep. it helps your body grow physically and mentally. its also a danger to your body. some people develop diabetes and other complications due to lack of sleep especially at a young age. you have to drop something out of your schedule. you need 8 hrs of sleep.

**stressed. Some people have different sleep patterns. My boyfriend sleeps about 5 hours a night. There is a non-depenative sleep drug that your dr can prescribe. I saw it advertised a couple weeks ago on TV. Ask him about it :)

DANGER.be in bed at 10pm. then close your eyes and just rest your body. IT IS GOOD to get up early though. but you should have 8 hours sleep daily. in love
