Why do you think we hold onto someone, even though it just wouldn't work??

I don't think that. Never have. If it's not working, it's time to move on. No need in prolonging misery.

A lot of reasons. Some of the more popular/common ones (in my opinion) are: Fear of being single again. Not sure they could do any better. Financial reasons or kids (even though I think neither of which are worth staying together if it's not a healthy relationship) and the biggest reason of all is people get 'comfortable'. Very very common in my opinion. People get comfortable and just don't want to try out anything else even though they know they should.

It is just pure and true love!! If u still hold onto that someone it is the power of love and love can make impossible possible. So there are chances of ur relationship workin out. Try givin it a second chance. I say this cuz I did the same n my relationship worked out n now I'm feelin simply gr8!!

It could be a number of different reasons: 1. Afraid of change- sometimes it seems easier to stay with the misery we know rather than try something unknown. 2. We start to define ourselves by our relationship with another person and we can't stand to redefine ourselves. 3. We cannot accept the fact that we are entitled to happiness. The list could go on forever.

Sometimes it is just to hard to let go. Just because it isnt working doesn't mean that it isn't love. Sometimes love just isn't good enough. Sometimes people also just get so used to each other that people don't know what to do without them. Take it from me. I have 2 young children and I am 22 my childrens father was no good, treated me like crap, did drugs, cheated, but I couldn't think about being without him. Finally you learn your inner strengths and learn to heal and press on.

Because of the challenge and that there is no better feeling than working a miracle. If you gave up on her and she came back to you that is cool, but if she gave up on you and later she came running back to you, after so long that is forever

Because you care about them and you don't want someone else to have them even if you don't want them. It is kinda like a little kid never wants the toy until someone else has it and then it looks pretty good!!!

People start to feel comfortable, they don't want to be alone, and they're afraid of not being attractive/intelligent/funny/whatever enough to find someone new.

Because people are just plain stupid. Really. Not to be harsh but when it comes down to it we are social creatures at heart but, who has never wanted what they couldn't have, even once.....?

Sometime we can USE relationships as a way to escape from reality.
It's just an addiction, mate.
