They both squat. The best way to tell is on a male, non neutered Cat.

Sorry, in all my experience over the years as a cat owner, they have all squatted. Though a male cat if not neutered will spray. Usually, they walk up to something and turn their backside to it and their tail will kinda shake. That's the only sign other than the smell and mess afterwards I've seen of the spraying. Though if you aren't afraid to check the cat physically, male cats do have typical male genitalia. Not to sound vulgar, but if the cat has a furry lump under its butt, then its probably male.

I really don't know. I have cats of both sexes in my home.

It's not hard to know the sex of a cat. Are you wanting to know the sex of an outdoor cat that you don't own? Even at a distance you can see if a cat is small or large and that's a good clue as to sex. Cats are, like us, gorillas etc, sexually dimorphic. The males are larger than the females. .

think it is only in the insect world that the female is larger than the male. Maybe with fish

Dabs, that is just too cute! Thanks for the laugh.

Not last time I checked, no.

The only way to determine sex....if the male isn't neutered, you'll be able to see his testes beneath his tail. If he IS neutered, you'll have to check the area surrounding the anus. Although, some altered males still have a small flap of skin where their testicals used to be.

Oh, for God's sake, some people!

No cat lifts its leg to pee, that's dogs! Sheesh. And when a male sprays, it's not just to take a piss, it's to mark his territory. Females spray, too!

When a cat is PEEING (i.e. going to the bathroom for the simple purpose of emptying the bladder) it SQUATS. Male OR female.

The best way to tell the gender of a kitten is to look for a "dot" or a "dash" in their "parts" area- boy kittens will look like a "dot", girls will be a "dash". you can tell the sex of a kitten pretty young by looking this way.

Boy cats spray they don't lift their leg though they just walk up to something turn their butt to it and kinda wiggle their tail and spray. Girls squat just like when they poo. You can tell their gender by looking for balls

No difference. But why worry about that? There's an easier way to tell.
