my friends and family said that your mind and body wont let it happen thats why you wake up so fast. except in my dream i was shot in the head and hit the floor, i saw myself dead then woke up. so if its true that you die for real then why am i still here?? now do you think its a big problem if i had this dream more than once?

No, it's not true. It's kind of like an urban myth. I've had tons of dreams where I die, and then my dream just continues in a different direction.

Whatever meaning this dream has for you I would listen to, but the old myth of dying is just that - a MYTH.
I have had this dream more than once, specifically I have even been shot in the head, just like you. I am still here too.
I would realize that your subconscious (or your god, or whatever you believe in) is trying pretty hard to tell you something, perhaps do some deep introspection and work it out. Good Luck.

i don't believe it is a ''big problem''. but here notice.
what was your feeling the first time you entertained the realities of life and ..? have these feelings changed..? have the feelings changed by what others have told you in relationship..? or have the feelings changed by a course of unfoldment in realization of this theme by a context which you accept responsibility for..?
you wake up fast because of 'fear to die' in the human world perception...you saw yourself and and then awake is you with your power to realize what is not true.
if you are having this dream more than once .... there is a realization yet to be had by you.
be well

It's not true. It was used years ago as a premise for a Hollywood movie and has kind of stuck around since...

Actually I think it was one of those old 'let's scare the kids' type stories even before the movie but the movie made it better known....

im really interested in dreams and I've read a couple different times that when you dream of death, it means you are going through a new phase in your life, leaving your old self in the past.

No its not.
To dream of your own death, indicates a transitional phase in your life. You are becoming more enlightened or spiritual. Alternatively, you are trying desperately to escape the demands of your daily life.

No, i've had dreams where i've died before.

Obviously, i'm still alive. ;)

I have also had dreams where i've been in fights and woke up with bruises and blood all over.

Just kidding. ;)

There's no way to determine if it's true that when you dream of death, you immediately die.
