Why do some religions feel the need to convert everyone so bad that they will knock on your door with a Bible and try to convince you that you should believe in their view, and when you tell them you don't, they just keep coming back.

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone showing up with a science book trying to convince me science it the right way.

Is this because science doesn't need to be "marketed" like religion because it stands on its own merit?

What has religion achieved for the past 2000 years compared to science?

Science has exploded with its contribution to humanity over the past 2000 years. Humans live on average so much longer. Contributions from technology, medicine, information, communication, discoveries about the universe, education, health, travel, food, the list is endless.

Religious people are quick to suggest that God gave humans the ability to use science to help humanity, and therefore God deserves the credit.

In the same vein then, what has God helped religion achieve over the past 2000 years? Religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began.

Science doesn't need to be marketed because it is good for humanity, but religion does need to be rammed down your throat, because it is obviously in bad taste, and bad for humanity.

Religion, is the belief that something has happened, without the ability to repeat, nor with in any expected range of.

Religion is based on what we have learned in the past through the teachings of Jesus, and what we know via the old test. Then taking that knowledge and using it to form are belief system and faith in that system.

Science is based on what we have learned through past experimentation and using those past hypostases to form new hypostases and theories until they are either proved or disproved, kind of a hit and miss.

How many times in the times before us have theories been disproven and science books had to be changed? The world is flat, we are the center of the universe, etc
Now ask yourself how often have they had to rewrite the bible or the ten commandments?

Get my point?

Right! Science stands on its own. But, there are those who will argue with science-like evolution.

Religion is strictly a matter of faith.

Tho, very often the facts of science agree with religion doctrine.
Or should I say, science shows that the religion doctrine is correct.

people rely on faith because of an emotional need. Its can be more difficult to get someone to buy into an ideal.

people rely on science when they need to go to a hospital, or drive a car, or use a computer. Science doesn't have to be marketed because its necessary. The only problem people have with science is when it contradicts something their religions states is a truth.

Excellent point, my friend. But where does human spirituality fit in? That's the "rub" as Shakespeare would say. That's why you have the bible-bumpers knocking at your door. It's also the source of so much hate and strife between opposite points of view.

People try to convert other people because they believe they have the truth. There is a huge difference between belief and truth. It takes a lot of soul searching and a lot of courage to get to the truth, whereas when people believe, they are motivated by their emotional attachment. Truth doesn't need a soapbox.

Actually, science does not have all the answers (or even many of them at all). When it does then faith may be in trouble. Until that day people seek to have an explanation for their existence.
