I strongly believe that god does not exist, but I except the possibility that he might.

So do you except the possibility that he doesn't?

That would be accept, and it would be against their religion to accept that they may be wrong. It's pretty much all or nothing.

I look at it this way.

Postulate A): There is no God.
Possible responses to this statment: 1) Act like it's true. 2) Act like it's not.
Result of 1): If A) is correct, you're wormfood anyway and it doesn't matter.
Result of 2): If A) is correct, no harm no foul. You're wormfood.

Postulate B): There IS a God.
Possible responses: 1) Act like it's true. 2) Act like it's not.
Result of 1): If B) is correct, you win big time.
Result of 2): If B) is correct, you are in deep, dark-brown doo-doo.

What have you got?
50% chance of it's not mattering a damn.
25% chance of heaven.
25% chance of hell.

By accepting Postulate A), the BEST you can do is break even. The worst is hell. BUT, if you accept Postulate B) the WORST you can do is break even. The best is heaven.

It's the only gamble I take. It's playing at the high stakes table for a jackpot that's unimaginably humongous. I'll hold 'em, thanks.

Of course Christians won't accept they are wrong, otherwise they wouldn't believe in God.

Your statement contains a contradiction. You say you believe God doesn't exist, but then you say he might. Correct would be: you believe he doesn't exist, but once you have evidence you will change your point of view. This is just the same for christians. Only agnostics doubt.

I'm an atheist too and I don't believe in God, but when there is sufficient evidence, I WILL.

I will tell you, I claim to be a born again Christian, and absolutely, I have thought many times that I may be wrong. And what would happen if I am?? But I am not ignorant...I've explored my options and hey, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But if I'm right....I have got a much better life waiting for me when I die. I choose to have faith to believe in God and that he exists. I have had a much happier life since I chose this.

And for Christians who say it is wrong to doubt...we are human. We are all going to doubt what we believe sometimes, but that's where faith comes in.

Think like this: I doubt a diagnosis from a doctor, but I still believe that they are right and take the medication they prescribe, having FAITH that it will work.

Good question. :)

I personally believe there is a God. The key word being personally. So many people can't "accept" the fact that not everyone has to share their views. I do however feel that things aren't exactly the way most christians think they are.

Christians cant accept that God doesnt exist, otherwise they wouldnt be Christians.
Personally, there is far too much evidence to prove He does exist.
how can you firmly believe He doesnt exist, but yet accept the possibility that He might? You cant hold both those views!!

I'm not telling you my religion but it's a bit confusing to me but I do believe in God. I don't like to have to choose what religion is right and wrong. I wish every one who live their lives in a good way should be able to go to heaven. I hope I'm not wrong to say that. God or no God if you believe in something so much that you would be willing to die for your believes then maby it's OK. We all need to believe in some thing, we all need a dream or there would be no point in living your lives.

Arguing theology is like arguing what is aliens existed (and some people worship aliens too, oh boy...). If God does or doesn't exist, what fuckinge differefernce does it make to any of us in our day to day life. Steve Hawking (I hope i spelt his name right!!) once argued that it doen't matter if God as we know and study him/her may or may not exist- but something had to have started the entire universe that evloved into species like our own. I believe in something, I've seen things in my life (I use to be an athesist) that changed me, but fuckno to all major religions. Killing each in other if Gods name isn't exactly the philosophy that your good word where ment for.

They are wrong because Christ was rescued from the cross and smuggled to India, where he got married and had lots of children and lived the ripe old age to 120yrs. So there was no Resurrection. There were 12 tribes in Israel only two stayed on, what happened to the rest of the ten tribes.

You mean accept.

No, Christians do not accept that they could be wrong. Their religion is based entirely on faith; if they doubted their beliefs, it wouldn't be faith. Also, Christians don't see their beliefs as beliefs, but as universal truths that everyone else should accept.

I do find it rather hilarious that Christians think there absolutely must be a deity just because there's a tree outside their window.

Just one reason why I hate Christians. They're ignorant, arrogant and very, very bigoted.
