it means don't ever let go of your hopes and dreams (stay hungry), and don't let life experiences turn you into a cynic (stay foolish- you know, always hoping for the best, happy endings etc.)

I would think it means to always kind of have something out there that you still want or need and can pursue, and always be willing to take what may seem like a crazy risk of some kind or else always be just "foolish" enough to think unconventionally at times.

if you stay hungry (you wanna know...but you don't really wanna know) for knowledge / the truth....you stay foolish (in the dark / ignorant)??
