Correct. A prison would be much more comfortable for being locked up forever.

Thats not the AMerican way for AMERICAN citizens.
Enemy combatants except for rare cases are not
citizens of this country. As long as they can be considered a threat, you do what you have to do to
lessen that threat. If that means keeping them in a dungeon so be it.

formal "charges" let a person know what law they have broken. In case of a terrorist, they already know or they wouldn't be there. The CIA doesn't just walk down the streets of foreign countrys abducting
people for fun........

Are you talking about the POW's we have? Do you want them treated according to the Geneva Convention? According to that they stay in POW camps until the war is over and then are returned to their country of origin. The war with Al quda is not over. We have not surrendered and neither have they. It is the way we have always done it and so yes it is the American way. Now if your talking about a common criminal in a US jail then no it is not.

Fortunately American citizens are not treated that way by the American system of justice.

However, if one is not an American citizen and engages in war upon America as an enemy combatant, one should not be surprised if one is treated with something less than silk sheets when captured.

We all know you are referring to terrorist detainees. Under the Geneva Conventions they are illegal combatants and are entitled to be shot on sight. Of course you prefer POW status. The Geneva Conventions REQUIRE POWs to be held until the war is over and PROHIBITS charging them with crimes committed in war until that time. Your choices are as follows: Hold them indefinitely without charges or kill them.

Ask Senator McCain what its like to be held in prison for years, and not be charged with anything. He is lucky to be alive.

Not for american citizens, it isn't.

However for foreign enemies of ours, it's just fine.

To have American rights, you need to be an American citizen.
