There are two reasons.

First is the historical background. When the British empire controlled the area, Pakistan was part of India. There were revolts by the Moslems, so the British split the country into Muslim Pakistan and Hindu India. Whenever a country is split into smaller parts along cultural or religious lines (called Balkanism), there will be conflict. Since the British intended to keep control over India, they gave the largest part of the Kashmir valley to India.

That leads to the second reason. The disputed border in the Kashmir valley. The Kashmir valley is a very fertile area that produces lots of food as well as one of the best wools in the world (ever hear of a cashmere sweater?).This valley has Muslims and Hindus on both sides of the border. Each group believes that they should have control over the whole valley. So there is constant fighting on both sides of the border. Both India and Pakistan give money and arms to "their" people on the wrong side of the border, then scream "terrorism" when the other side attacks something.

I don't think you can generalize - they are such people on both sides of the border. I have some very good Pakistani friends who love Indian movies and Hindi songs....while I know of a few Indians who blame every terrorism activity in Bombay on Pakistan!

The ones who show such hatred with their named avatars are most likely jealous of the freedon Indians enjoy among other things. India has also become a major economic power to reckon with in the last couple of years. Plus Pakistan has a load of terrorism issues which it hasn't been able to resolve - remember the recent terrorist alert in the UK came from people of Pakistani origin.

People do not hate one another. Hate is spread by politicians for their own motives. The people have a similar culture, language and history. They usually become good friends on personal contact.
