I can imagine a number of very bad things. All of which will prevent me from worrying about survival.

Lean hard on the Lord.

I have been there, having lost my twelve year old son in a tragic accident. All I can say is that I found the Lord to be faithful in every way. I spent time alone with Him reading the Word and praying for comfort. Even at those times, when I could not even pray, I would fall on my face, and cry out 'Oh God' over and over and over, and I was always comforted by Him.

Looking back over the past eight years since my son died, the experience has changed me - we have a choice, to get bitter or better.

It is important to grieve. It takes courage to do so, facing up little by little to the 'issue' at hand, but when you do with the Lord's help, He pours in his oil and balm.

Take Him with you each step of the way, and you will come to healing!

I don't know, as that hasn't ever happened to me, although I have had some pretty aweful things happen to me.

In those cases, a combination of screaming, crying, heavy drinking, and the passage of time have helped.

If the worst thing I can imagine were to happen, I might decide life was no longer worth living.

How about the worst thing you "couldn't imagine" happened to you? You become grateful that you have a mother left to pick you up and make you a functioning person again. A person who cares about life, people, compassion, and that living is really worth it. And you silently thank her for raising you to be strong enough to get over it!!!

I am willing to bet dollars to donuts that whatever it is it is not "the worst thing you can imagine". Bad things happen your strength and character will get you through to a better day. Work to fix the things you can and don't worry about those things you cant. Suck it up and drive on hero!

Focus on the future. Do not continue mourn on things that happened in the past.

Every day is a new day with new choices to be made. Make the most out of every choice. Realize that doing God's will is the most important thing you can do. Live every day for God and have him work through you.

You realize that the worst thing that you can imagine has just happened and yet you have survived. It only gets better from here.

I'm in the desert too.

Well it's amazingly hard to get over some of the most horrific occassions in life. You can only depend on the Lord to give you strength. You also need good friends or relatives, love ones to console you and talk with. Be Blessed.

I would pray constantly for strength. When I was a girl my mom died, leaving me alone (my dad had died already and I am an only child) I have never felt such terror. The only thing that helped me was knowing God loved me and that I would get through it with his help.

Some people may ask - then how could a God that loved you take away your mother?

Because life isn't all about me. Things happen to people. My mother's death was about her, and it being her time. So God pulled me through it a very long time ago and he has been with me every since!

I got up everyday and just tried to get through the day, focusing on what ever positive things were still left in my life. Eventually it stops hurting as much.
