Genesis 1

1:1 In the beginning God.... whoa, hold your horses where did this god guy come from?

As far as I can see there are a few possibilities:

He has been around forever.

He just popped into existence.

Both of these explanations could also apply to the universe...

He was created buy another God.

This leaves you with the same problem...

He created himself.

This is a paradox and impossible...

He doesn’t exist

That last one is promising...

What do you guys think?

I'll take "He doesn't exist" for a thousand, Alex! Do you really think that you're going to get a straight answer to that one? Religion is a house of cards, it is built and balanced on assumptions and impossibilities.

"God" is a concept or belief in something that we will never fully understand.

Let's put God on the side for a second....(Cause I think you're mixing up concepts here)

Can you concieve of when "time" began? How long ago was it, and what was happening before that? Are we in a loop? Does it ever end, and if it does, then what? Does reality as we know it have physical limits? Where did all matter come from? Is there a limited amount of matter in all of existance? How much of it is there, and how large are all the existant universes put together? What happens when you get to the edge? See these are things we may never understand. Maybe one day we will. But the existance of these unanswerable questions does not prove or disprove that there is a God.

God is a belief. And maybe if the traditional definitions of God don't suit you, come up with one that makes more sense. Religious beliefs have been in a constant state of change since people existed. (although most don't want to believe this)

im going to be controversial here. I do believe in god or higher being of love and light, i believe this can be found in all things living. I do not beleive that jesus christ is the son of god, just simply he was a man with a good heart who beleived we are all gods children.

Gods have been around since people have been around. Higher beings or gods show up in the most primitive of cave painting, egyptians hyrogliphics, greek lore, and straight down to the bibles and other religions today.

I the days of long long ago God was a way of explaining the unexplained. For most modern religions I think now a days it is more a method of mass control

God does exist but god is love (not sex but love) there is four ways to express the god in you. to never assume make sure you communicate and no one is under the assumtion you will do something for them or visa versa, be beautiful with your words if the pen is mightier than the sword then use your mouth to make people feel good tell the truth no matter how painfull avoid gossiping, always try your best if you are sick one day then your best is not a good as when you are a superhero but at least you can honestly say I did my best, and don't take anything personally this one is hard but really even if someone shouts at you don't take it personally it is simply that person dealing with their own emotions.

So yes I say god does exist but for me it is not how other people beleive he exists. God is hope, faith, happiness, and all things good honest and beautiful

His name is" I am". that means he just is. No other explanaition needed. There are some things that our small brains just can not wrap themselves around. God and his beginnig is one of those things. It will all be made clear to us later. This is one of those paradoxes. some people can not believe until they see but the blessed ones are the ones that believe with out seeing.
The way I see it just stop worring about who made who. We could debate the chicken and the egg all day long but does that make it taste different???

A person with religion (any) would of course answer that God has always been in existence.
However more logicaly God (again any) was created by Man and does not exist, hence the word 'Faith' as his/her existance cannot be proven/disproven.

God 'IS'. Soul which we are 'IS'. Both are eternal, therefore, have no begining nor ending. Sorry, but the bible is wrong when it says In the begining to start describing the nature of God. In reality God IS No-thing. Think of it...

God created every thing including space and time, and He is above both, hence He had no beginning and no end always was and always will be, none like him ever living and eternal.

As a mormon, I belive that god was once a Human just like you and me, on another planet that may or may not have looked like earth. He was a good man and had lived a life in ocordance with the laws of the church, as he lived a good life and was a good man he was able to become a hevanly father of his own spirt children (us) who would go through the same things as he did when he was on his "earth" and those of us who live a good life and are good people will go on to become hevanly parents of our own spirit children and so on and so fourht. (however who this all startred i do not know.)

No one created God. God is.
God is not constrained to a linear time as we know it.
He always was - even before time existed - thus eternal.
He always will be - even when time ends - same principle.

Moses asked God, Whom shall I say sent me?
Jesus answered and said, I AM.

Not limited to "was", "is", or "will be".

I am.
Timeless.

the best answer from the ones you have put is:He has been around forever
but the word "forever" has a problem here and that is that God created time so time doesn't exist for him,get it?!!
