Woolite pet stain and oder remover, available at almost any store, got mine at wal-mart or grocery store. Follow the instructions, works for me. The key is blotting the liquid out with an old rag before you start spraying. You can use newspapers to pull the liquid out of the carpet too. Just don't leave the newspapers laying there for a long time, or the newsprint will transfer to the carpet, specially if it's a lite color. Aren't puppy's fun?

There is something called Nature's Miracle. It comes in a white bottle with red writting on it if I remember right. It is intended solely for the use of taking out pet stains and odors. You should be able to get it at any pet store and I think Fleet Farm or Farm n Fleet sells it too if you have those stores in your area.
The part about getting the pee out of the pad is right, too. If it is in an area that is too far from the wall to pull up, what you want to do is take a think towel that you don't care about and put it over the stain, then set something heavy on top of it so it can obsorb and soak up the urine. After doing this try the Nature's Miracle. You can probably find it on the internet too. My parents used to breed Golden Retrievers and about one puppy in every 5 litters would just have to pee on the carpet.

The most important thing to remember is you need to get a carpet cleaner specifically designed to get rid of pet stains. Any other type of cleaner can contain ammonia, or ammonia like chemicals and will draw him back to that spot. After you have done that look for a cleaner with a citrus smell, citrus is the best scent to remove pet odors and dogs are not too fond of it so it may help him avoid the area.

Enzyme Pet Odor Removing Product. Janitorial supply companies will have commercial cleaning products for the carpet cleaning industry. You need an active bacterial product. Something that requires mixing with warm(not hot) water. Use the saturation method, to insure the product reaches the padding.
There is a product called Pee-Be-Gone, it is a powder...that works wonders. YOU HAVE TO USE A BACTERIA TO DIGEST THE URINE. There is no way to "clean" the smell out...or cover it.

There are plenty of stains that happen to land onto your carpet each and every day. You may notice them, or they may slip past you. One thing is for sure. Having stains of any type of your carpet can cause you to have less value in your home and will require that you invest in new carpeting more frequently than you should need to. Yet, if you know a few methods to removing carpet stains, you may just find that this is no longer the case. Carpet stain removal can happen if you take some time to learn how to do it more effectively.
To help you, we have several areas listed here that may be what you need. Various stains on carpeting require various types of chemicals or cleaning methods. Knowing which bottle to grab or how to react to the stain will help you to get rid of it faster and more thoroughly.
Food Stains
The most common type of stain to land onto your carpeting is going to be that of food. But, each type of food may have a different method that needs to be used to clean it up. So, to break it down some, take a look at these methods for cleaning up the most popular food stains for in anyone’s home.
Coffee, Juice and Wine Stains:
These are some of the most common types of stains. To get rid of them, use a clean terry cloth or white paper towels to blot up all of the excess liquid that you have. Do not scrub. Next, apply club soda to the area. Then, after a few seconds of sitting, you will want to again blot out the stain with clean, dry paper towels. Next, do the same thing but with clean water to rinse the area. Finally, if these things do not work to remove the stain, apply hydrogen peroxide to the area and let it sit. Blot off any excess liquid there.
Chocolate or Ice Cream:
Yes, these wind up on your floor too. To remove them, mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with one cup of water. Apply to a clean terry cloth and then to the area. Blot as much as possible with dry, clean paper towels or terry cloths. Repeat this process until all of the stain has been successfully removed.
Grease or Oily Stains:
These are some of the worst stains to clean up. But, you can do it. Apply a non oily, non caustic dry cleaning solvent to the area. Use only a small amount. You should check to make sure that this product will not stain the carpet itself by testing it in a hidden area first. Rinse the area with warm water and blot it dry.
sorry of it's kinda long... But, it should answer all or most of your carpet stains!!
gud luck!!

did the pee get into the padding under the carpet? if so then washing the surface will do nothing because the pee will always be in the padding. lift the carpet and wash that too. then spray it with fabreeze after.

There is an awesome spot remover at Lowe's in the cleaning aisle. It comes in a white spray bottle with purple lettering (and in gallon jugs). It is amazing...I wish I could remember the name!
